Lott: I lost my nest egg to Katrina, too By GEOFF PENDERglpender@sunherald.com
WASHINGTON - Mississippi's junior senator, Trent Lott, was frustrated and angry but also in rare form Friday as he and the rest of the state's delegation pushed for Hurricane Katrina relief from a Congress that appears consumed by both partisan and inter-party battles on every front - Katrina, the budget, the war. Lott covered many topics in an interview. Some highlights: Q: You've said your house was your nest egg for retirement, and you lost it to Katrina. That leads to the question a lot of people have been asking, will you run again for the Senate next year? A: That was my nest egg. It was about half my net worth. I have a $400,000 loss after the flood insurance. Its appraised value was probably $600,000 to $700,000, but I had been offered more to sell it.

He seemed to have lost all courage and determination once he was named to succeed Bob Dole as majority leader in the summer of 1996.
It was time for Lott to retire when he gave into the left's rhetoric and apologised for a racist implication he never meant to imply.
What Democrats are expected to seek this seat next year? Isn't there a possibility that the popular Michael Moore (not the liberal filmaker) will run?

True, he should have defended himself once, never mentioned the issue again, and stayed put. He could have let his colleagues move against him, but he should never have bailed out. Supposedly GWB wanted him to bail out.
Simple answer: Yes.
No, actually.
Problem is, while I'm no huge Lott fan, I don't want another open seat to defend this cycle. We have too many other things to worry about.
Would you consider a run?

Q: Why did you file a lawsuit against State Farm?
A: I hooked up with my no-good brother-in-law (attorney Dickie Scruggs) on that. I've told him I don't believe in what he does, those big plaintiffs' suits, but how can insurance companies say we didn't have any wind damage from this storm?
Dec. 20, 2002 to be exact. The day he stepped down as leader.
What is he trying to pull off?
Your house is your nest egg, it totals half your net worth.
You live in a flood zone and don't fully insure that house.
How stupid is that?
Nest egg lost? B.S.
his Senatorial benefits package is his nest egg!

As a real estate appraiser, if I had a nickel for every time a client told me that story I would be richer than Bill Gates. That's how the story always starts out. When I say when, how much and where is the documentation it always comes down to " well, me and my brother-in-law were talkin' over a few beers last summer and he said I'd give you $.... for your place if I had a job".
A: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. (The House) also excluded golf courses, tanning booths, anywhere that serves liquor. They listed pretty much everything but whorehouses. It's just ridiculous. The casinos are major employers. They're legal businesses, for God's sakes. (The House) ought to be ashamed. It's not good tax policy.
But we had to just move, get this passed. We can at least now say to some segments that some help is there now. I plan to undo what we've done here (excluding casinos and others) with subsequent legislation. I'll grab the next moving vehicle I can get a hold of. But we decided to pass this. Our leadership made that decision. We'll make the House eat what they passed.
Lott
hey! can you send up some warm weather?
LOL! Freezing up here...
The max on Federal Flood Insurance is $250,000.00.
That is the only flood insurance available in the US.
If your house appreciates past that point, and his probably cost a lot less than that when he bought it, you are SOL

Lott's a pathetic whiny bastard. Whines like a white Ray Nagin.
