Wash. Democrats Apologize for Magnet
AP ^ | 12-14-2005 | AP

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- The state's Democratic chairman has apologized for a political gimcrack that parodied a popular Christian automobile adornment.

The magnet also bore the image of a cross and the word "hypocrite" over a background of flames. State Rep. Doug Ericksen, R-Bellingham, called it an "anti-Christian" symbol.

Paul Berendt, the state Democratic chairman, said he was surprised to find the item advertised on the Web site. He told The Seattle Times the magnet was not properly vetted and was removed from the party's site after less than 48 hours.

The fish magnet is copyrighted by a Mount Vernon company. Berendt said he was unsure of its meaning, but said he thinks it is aimed at "people who claim to be pro-life but are for the death penalty."

This confirms the news that was reported by the Seattle radio talk show host, and was displayed on FR. Just the fact that anybody in the Dem party bureaucracy would even consider allowing that "hypocrite" magnet to be listed onthier website reveals a lot about the mentality of the Dems. the secularists and atheists are a growing part of their party and they HATE Christianity. Church-going people need to be made aware of this. Perhaps this AP article can serve as further proof, when you tell your church friends about the "hypocrite" magnet incident.

They're not sorry, the only thing they are sorry about is now everyone knows their true feelings. What we've long suspected has now been confirmed. Let's throw them out in '06!.

"State Rep. Doug Ericksen, R-Bellingham, called it an "anti-Christian" symbol."

And he's right too. Maybe it was intended to mean a certain subset of Christians but I think the true feelings came out in the process. Nobody with respect for Christianity would do that.

It's too late for an apology. It's like asking Satan to become a Christian.

Before the cross became the symbol of Christianity there was the fish.

Second question: Why would the dems put flames inside the fish and then overlay the word "HYPOCRACY?" I don't get their logic. Christians are hypocrites for.... what?

Christ was a "fisher of men." Early Christians used the fish as a secret symbol for Christianity.

Early Christians used the fish as a secret symbol for Christianity.

Back when they were shunned out of the public sphere, unlike today... wait-a-minute.

I understand the sign of the fish was also used as a challenge and countersign. If you were a Christian and suspected that you might be talking to another, use your foot to draw an arc on the ground between you. If the challenged person finished the fish with another arc, he was a Christian, it was safe to talk freely. This might be important to know in the future.
