McCain came up that abomination, but the President signed onto it.
If Bush rejected it, he would also have to deny funding our troops at war as well.
It was a detestable move by McLame.
I think of this guy:
Yeah, lets just let the military run out of money instead. That will teach McCain and those Senators. BTW, did ANYONE even bother to mention that the bill passed with greater then 2/3s majorities? That a veto would be over ridden?
But that RIGHT. Let's NOT hold the people who actually cast the votes accountable! Lets seize on this for yet ANOTHER excuse to whine "why doesn't Bush DO something". p>
What is it going to take for people to WAKE UP to the fact that the bulk of the power in our system is LEGISLATIVE, NOT Executive. Maybe prior to Watergate the Executive was co-equal but since then the power has flowed ALL one way. TO the Congress. How about "Conservatives" finally wake up to the fact that it is Government BY the people and WE need to start holding our Congress Critter by the ears over a long drop to wake them them up that we are AT WAR. Seen the most recent individual Senator poll data? Funny how you all are mad at Bush but have absolutely NO distaste for your Senators. THEY are the problem people, NOT Bush.
You're mischaracterizing that as well.
I think that Bush's signature onto McCain's stupid amendment can be accepted as having as much force as Hitler's signature on Chamberlain's piece of paper at Munich. When the rubber hits the road, Bush will do what has to be done to defend America - whatever McCain has to say about it.
As for this, all I can say is: God bless the President.
You're being unfair to the President. McCain ATTACHED his sickening terrorist sympathizer bill to a bill providing key military funding. To veto McCain's bill would mean denying our troops the needed funding to continue in the WOT.
Shame on McCain. Because this stunt by McCain will give the Left and McCain some red meat to go after the President through the media.
Vetoing this bill will enable McCain and the leftist turds in this country to say "President Bush doesn't give a sh** about our troops".
It was linked to defense funding.
