McCain came up that abomination, but the President signed onto it.
Yeah, lets just let the military run out of money instead. That will teach McCain and those Senators. BTW, did ANYONE even bother to mention that the bill passed with greater then 2/3s majorities? That a veto would be over ridden?
But that RIGHT. Let's NOT hold the people who actually cast the votes accountable! Lets seize on this for yet ANOTHER excuse to whine "why doesn't Bush DO something". p>
What is it going to take for people to WAKE UP to the fact that the bulk of the power in our system is LEGISLATIVE, NOT Executive. Maybe prior to Watergate the Executive was co-equal but since then the power has flowed ALL one way. TO the Congress. How about "Conservatives" finally wake up to the fact that it is Government BY the people and WE need to start holding our Congress Critter by the ears over a long drop to wake them them up that we are AT WAR. Seen the most recent individual Senator poll data? Funny how you all are mad at Bush but have absolutely NO distaste for your Senators. THEY are the problem people, NOT Bush.

Ok, so it's not up to anyone to do anything--according to you. Wrong argument.
The President could have done many things to ward this abomination off, and probably did several. However, on at least one report I read, the President actually endorsed McCain's folly.

Funny how you all are mad at Bush but have absolutely NO distaste for your Senators. Arlen Specter is my Senator, and I have plenty of distaste for him. And disgust!
