WASHINGTON -- Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, whose vocal pro-war support for President Bush has rankled fellow Democrats, emerged from a White House meeting Friday saying the president has turned the corner on Iraq in recent weeks.

Lieberman cited the substantial turnout in the Iraq elections this week and Bush's four major speeches on the war as key reasons for the turnaround.

"The last two weeks have been critically important and I believe may be seen as a turning point in the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism," Lieberman told reporters after he and a bipartisan group of senators met with Bush and top administration officials on the war.

"I believe the president has begun a new conversation with the American people, looking back and talking again about why we went into Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein, why we remain there, why success in Iraq is so critical to America's national security, and how we intend to win," he said.

I anticipate the Senator is being invited on all the MSM Sunday morning shows.

NOT!

I think the "cut and run" insurgents are not fretting over Iraq, I think they are worried about who is NEXT in that area. Syria or Iran? Just how will liberals do business with freedom on the march?

Another wet panty day for the Democrats.

Yes, when the Rats thought they had him down and out, and were ready to write off his presidency, the Election in Iraq, pops out of no where.

Why do the dems and their lap dog press even try these things? You have to suspect they were secretly hopeing for for a huge terrorist strike or something.

Result: Much higher turnout than the US has seen in YEARS, and fewer deaths than any election day in the US for the last 30 years.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton offered Vice President Dick Cheney a little unsolicited advice yesterday: go take a firsthand look at what's going on in Iraq.

Clinton's surprising suggestion came moments before a top-level war briefing at the White House, a source involved with the meeting told The Post.

From the NY Post.

Which is why the MSM decided to sabotage the news of Bush's geopolitical victory with the timely release of CIA eavesdropping story (which was held for on year for an occasion such as this) on the VERY DAY of the Iraq election.

true.
sadly for what reasonable people exist in their ranks, the Donks are too bound in delirium to realise that Lieberman is about the best candidate they could put forth... for America.

I don't understand. I thought this was a private briefing for Hillary. Or rather the junior senator had consented to meet with the President because it was good manners. Didn't she have any comments??

President to fill Hill

Somehow I don't think even a crushing electoral defeat would wake these people up.

Pity Joe isn't pro-life. He could be a great GOP nominee in '08!

Wrong. I doubt Lieberman appears on the Sunday shows. Ratber, it will be the defeat America cabal (The Sumner Redstone brigade -- CBS, and Simon & Schuster -- Pinch Sulzberger and the New York Times flacks, Patrick Leahy, Arlen Specter, John McCain, Lindsay Graham) all calling for Bush's scalp and pumping James Risen's book.

You know, destroying a president who was popularly elected is not an easy thing to do. The press is powerful, but they can't set the agenda, nor can the opposition if the president won't let them. It now appears that this president has decided not to let them. President Bush will address the nation tomorrow night. More people will tune in than the entire cable tv viewership, and that is where most political junkies go for their fixes of Hardball, Olberman, Donner and Blitzer. I just had to sneak that in there.

It is GOOD that Lieberman is wise enough to see that defeating terrorists and establishing freedom is a GOOD thing. However, I remember this man in campaign 2000 who sought the veep position using a premeditated campaign policy of PREVENTING military votes being counted.

HE is a LIBERAL.

Yeah, Joe is a liberal.

Trouble is, so are half the potential GOP nominees!

Looks like Liberman gets the "No Sh-t Sherlock" award for 2005. This ain't really a surprise is it?

Source Quote: "Former Connecticut Gov. Lowell Weicker has said he would consider running against Lieberman if no credible anti-war candidate steps forward."

That would be fairly easy for Weicker. Lieberman and Billery Clinton will likely run on the same ticket for President and Vice President.
