Do you, or does anybody else know whatever became of the story that this guy Mahmoud was one of the 1979 kidnappers of Americans from the embassy in Tehran? Was it ever proven/disproven?

Those who have identified him are very certain. The administration said (originally) that they didn't think that he was the same individual in the photographs that those who were accusing him were pointing to as evidence. I've seen the photograph and it does not look like Ahmadinejad, although I certainly could be wrong. But he was involved, whether he is the man in the photograph or not.

So far as I can see, the most reliable muslim is the muslim under at least 6 feet of dirt!
