(Vanity) Favorite Christmas Movies
Various FReepers | December 16, 2005 | Vanity, thy name is Owl_Eagle

Posted on 12/16/2005 12:31:40 PM PST by End Times Sentinel

Since there clearly haven't been enough vanities around here today, I figured I weigh in with one:

What are your three favorite Christmas Movies of all  time?

Me, I'm going with:

3.  A Christmas Carol (staring Patrick Stewart, 1999)

2.  A Very Brady Christmas (yes I'm serious)

1.  It's A Wonderful Life (one of the finest films of all time)

Alright FReepers, time to opine...

the woman who cleans the restroom in
the building I work in.  I'm going to start
thinking of her as a human being"

Die Hard

LOL. I was wondering how many posts it would take for that one to show up.

That diatribe was priceless...depending on what channel I am watching the movie on(on the regular channels, the diatribe is cleaned up, on cable channels, its left intact, which is the really funny version)...of course, on DVD, it is the more 'colorful' diatribe that we hear...but you are right, its a classic...

And it showed, that Uncle Eddie, in spite of being a regular lazy, know-nothing, do-nothing type of guy, only tried to give poor Clark Griswold what he wanted for Christmas...

And lets not forget 'Snot' the dog...my hubby loves that dog, he cracks up when he sees that dog...

  1. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: I've actually peed my pants laughing at this one.
  2. Scrooged: A great take on Dickens' tale.
  3. A Christmas Story: A very funny story.
  4. It's a Wonderful Life: Still brings tears to my eyes.

I prefer A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Alastair Sim......

My absolute favorite!

I also love March of The Wooden Soldiers with Laurel & Hardy.

I will show my age but I miss the Christmas specials with Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and the King Family!

Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.

"If you get basic cable, it's on tonight at eight."

Thanks for the tip. If hubby and I are good at the Christmas party (that's tonight for my office), I'll probably see it. If we are bad, I'll have to watch my VHS tape!

For something new, check out the Brit film "Millions". Not a traditional Christmas movie, but it is set during the Christmas holiday and the message is certainly about being and acting like a Christian. Very charming.

"The only film version of "A Christmas Carol" to win an Oscar."

That's interesting. I wonder if you can ever see it nowadays.

Poor 'brain dead' Eddie...everything just whizzes right over his head...its that plate in his head, you know...

I like when they go snowboarding and Clark polishes that big silvery round disc, with cooking oil, and WHIZ, hes on the freeway...

I also like the dinner scene, where the turkey explodes because its so dried out(Eddies wife is a bad cook), and the green jello has cat crap on it...but Eddie is enjoying all the food, cat crap and all...

I've got both of my favorites on VHS but there is something much more special about catching it when it's on TV instead. Kind of like a surprise present.
