It's been one year since Baker Middle School in Columbus implemented same sex classes for it's students. Since then grades and test scores have improved.
This is the second year students at Baker Middle School have taken classes with people of the same sex. "Same gender to me really gives the kids an opportunity to grow at their own level without the peer pressure of the other sex,"says Latshia Archibald a teacher at Baker Middle School. And the students seem to agree.
7th grade student, Darryl Rozier says "Most of the boys worry about the girls instead of doing their work. they're all about looking at the girls instead of worrying about what they're doing."
While 7th grade student Tarshiela Toles says "without the boys I can concentrate more and if we are talking about a certain thing they think it's funny and with girls they understand girls better." not only are the same sex classes producing better grades and test scores for the students. there's been a decrease in the number of kids getting in trouble during school hours. "Last year we had maybe out of the whole grade level maybe 50-to-75 referrals where in the past we've had anywhere from 200 to 300 referrals, so there's a big difference."
Right now 6th and 7th grade students at Baker Middle School are taking same sex classes. Next year it will be implemented into the 8th grade.
There, see. So why wouldn't it work just as well for marriage? Hmmm?
LIBS: "Hurray! Wait a minute...the title is misleading! I thought this had to do with gay-marriage...Booo!!"
Great, will someone now inform the Supreme Court of these results so my alma mater, the Virginia Military Institute, can go back to being an all male school.
Duhhh!!!
Positive proof there aren't as many homosexuals as the homosexuals claim. If there was, there would still be a lot of distraction...
Just wait until some wacked out parent protests this as sex discrimination, or the ACLU threatens a lawsuit. Can't have sex segregation
The only "dykes" at VMI should be male freshmen! (Or tools in the electronics lab.)
They used to be called boys' schools and girls' schools, before the feminists destroyed almost all of them. As I know from experience, it's less distracting in the classroom.
So, now they're reinventing the wheel. But I doubt that the feminists will let them get away with it, even with that "same sex" label.
Isn't this what the private schools like Wellesley and military schools like West Point, US Naval Academy and US Air Force Academy use to do? Pendalum swing in the opposite direction.
Poor choice of words. This should be phrased, "single gender classes".
What you say is true. But I know Christians that would be alarmed at same gender classes precisely because they fear it might turn their children into homosexuals. One can only guess as to who might object to segregating the boys and girls in school.
I don't know, my mother went to college where she was among the first class of women, and from reading her alumni magazines growing up it seemed like a disproportionate number of men in the classes right before hers died of AIDS.
I'd never thought someone would be that paranoid! As a Christian, I'd be more worried about promiscuous heterosexual activities, which are far more likely to occur between teenagers.
But seriously, I know Christian parents that would argue your last point, saying that separating the genders is overkill, and that it would be better for them to deal with their urges in a co-ed setting. The point being, not all criticisms of gender segregation would come exclusively from the Left, though they are the most likely suspects.
