Can the President intentionally provoke a war without Congress' consent?

He did.

RE: "I like Israel's version better."

Me too, but... as Rep. Hayworth seems fond of saying,

"Whatever it Takes"

Senor Fox,

The wall is no bigger disgrace than the corrupt, lying government of Mexico. YOu deserve it.

Had you a decent honest government, your people would not be forced to illegally enter the US to find work and dignity.

You and your government are the real disgrace, face it.

I agree that it is shameful and disgraceful that we would have to build a wall to keep out invaders from a purported friend and neighbor of the U.S.

America has one national creed, but many accents. We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America.

Some still look at Latin America through old stereotypes.

But I see a hemisphere of 500 million people, striving with the dream of a better life. A dream of free markets and free people, in a hemisphere free from war and tyranny. That dream has sometimes been frustrated -- but it must never be abandoned. ...

Should I become president, I will look South, not as an afterthought, but as a fundamental commitment of my presidency. Just as we ended the great divide between East and West, so today we can overcome the North-South divide. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

Later today, I will meet with the president-elect of Mexico, and begin what I hope is a strong and constant friendship. I have a vision for our two countries. The United States is destined to have a "special relationship" with Mexico, as clear and strong as we have had with Canada and Great Britain. Historically, we have had no closer friends and allies. And with Canada, our partner in NATO and NAFTA, we share, not just a border, but a bond of good will. Our ties of history and heritage with Mexico are just as deep...

Differences are inevitable between us. But they will be differences among family, not between rivals....

Our second goal is free trade in the all the Americas, which will be a step toward free trade in all the world.

George W. Bush
August, 2000

Not the words of somebody who will support a full-blown wall, and his actions in the five years since have proven it. When anybody talks about the wall near San Diego, it's with a wink-wink nudge-nudge knowwhutI mean, because we all know the illegals will just go around it

It's not like we haven't had the biggest five-year increase in illegals in American history under President Bush - oh wait, we have, and that's even after 9/11.

Anybody who thinks we will ever have meaningful border control is living in a dream world - we've had a Republican President, a Republican Congress, a major terrorist attack - if none of that will lead to true border control, then nothing will.

Cameras and sensors record them when they're already in.

I disagree with your way of looking at the solution, but that's immaterial to the premise of getting our Gov idiots to actually do something to stop the invasion. Anything!!! If the best we can come up with is to build a fence, then lets build it! What I said in my earlier post was that if our Government officials wanted to stop it, they would. Tthey could. But for whatever reasons, they obviously don't want to.

I think Bush picked a guy of the caliber he wants and Chertoff seems to be a pure Govt. Lackey.

I watched him last night on O'Reilly and it was sad to listen to him.

I think Bush will stretch this allowed Immigration until the end of his term.
