There are some very dirty folks at various levels of MD politics. This whole experience got me interested - heck I'm 3000 miles away (actually more than that by road according to the semi-joke sign giving the mileage to Ocean City at the Western end of US-50 in Sacramento - LOL!). In addition to the main stream Leftists I've discovered an undercurrent of quite extreme Communist and Anarchist radicals who are involved in Baltimore Indymedia, UB and a bookstore / cafe called "Red Emma's" (appropriately named!). These folks have been instrumental in facilitating many of the DC protests and in the nationwide Pirate radio movement. Pete Tridish is related to them politically. Etc.

The reporter who broke the news is on WBAL with Bruce Elliott right now.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. When I read about "sources" coupled with a statement about your refusal to disclose information, I was unnerved thinking that someone was playing FR's hand behind your back. I am exceptionally relieved to hear the facts from you.
It does seem that FR has been used by the Democrats to slander a Republican official, just based on the articles we've read so far. Even those that contained the lies you revealed. Add to those the information contained in your post, and I am not entirely surprised anymore that information on this story outside FR is so limited.
Again, I appreciate your taking the time to explain the background on this. You're very correct: why not break it right here on FR?
I don't need to tell you... but it's glaringly obvious. It isn't as if FreeRepublic.com is some unknown political forum... See: Dan Rather/CBS Memos.

Yes--the wonderful man who introduced me to FR was a target of an attack orchestrated by some lurking DUmmies (I know their names, but don't want their attention). He was on a school board and they tried to destroy him by publishing his posting history on FR with the all too willing help of a local reporter. Politics of personal destruction mean nothing to these people.

Personally, I think its to be expected. Playing dirty can yield dividends in politics, but its important to expose and eviscerate the bastards that are dumb enough to get caught doing it.

Thanks, Jim. But may I suggest that the story be broken wide open sooner rather than later, since Governor Ehrlich is currently running a bit behind O'Malley in the polls in part due to the supposed defamation of O'Malley by Ehrlich's aide.

"I don't think anyone cares a hoot anymore."
Guess again. If, as I have suspected all along, that "MD4Bush" is a democratic operative, just as Joseph Steffen was, than it is a huge story. This is an attempt by the dems to effect the next election. The "hearings" for all this was the first goal of the scheme. The dems on the committee refused to follow the "MD4Bush" trail for a reason. They KNEW who "MD4Bush" was all along.
The next goal was to have these hearings STILL going on about the time of the next election.
If I am not mistaken, there was no budget or time constraints applied to this . Only the dems could subpoena witnesses. The conservatives could not even have their own staff council. Thats fair and balanced huh?
When the operators of this site cooperate with any authorities, if any have any interest, the "committee" would be forced to get to the truth about "MD4Bush". There could be no reason for the "committee" to not get to the bottom of all this.
I think this site will play a VERY IMPORTANT role in the weeks and months to come. I also believe this site will be wise in their dealings with those who were a part of "MD4Bush". I DON'T trust that the law enforcement agencies will follow through on this though.

My reference about no one giving a hoot was in connection with my statement that, for months, everything on this story was fragmented and all over the place with fact and rumors.........and the cast of characters too tangled to sort out. I just kinda tuned it out over time.
To the rescue comes JimRob, tah, dah. His post on this thread has clarified things beautifully for me and renewed my interest now that I know who's on first and what's on second.
I'll be reading everything on this issue from now on and watching intently as things unfold. It IS important......and, yes, scandalous.
