Like football and hockey players, soccer players would have to don helmets on the field to protect their heads, under a new legislative proposal.
The measure, scheduled for a hearing today on Beacon Hill, would cover peewee leagues to college teams.

Nannyism run amok? Is it possible to make soccer any "sissier" than it already is? Well, the Massachusetts General Court thinks so . . .

Heck, I think hockey was a lot more fun before everyone wore helmets.
Anyways, soccer players might as well wear helmets, because they sure as hell don't need jock straps.

Why don't they just mandate that we wear helmets 24/7?
We should at least mandate helmets at the local bar where people are prone falling over after drinking too much.
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Eventually it will mandatory for all children (and maybe all adults, too) to wear helmets all the time. After all, they might fall and hurt themselves.

Heck, I think hockey was a lot more fun before everyone wore helmets. There's an argument to be made that it kept high sticking down, too. But soccer helmets? You've got to be kidding me!

Soccer, that manly American sport....

How about helmets for the soccer moms? (And maybe a requirement that they ride little yellow buses to the game...)
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Watch out Rugby players...the helmet-police will be coming for you next. (actually it's a wonder they didn't go there first.) Where will it stop? When we have basketball players all dressed like hockey goalies?

Mandatory helmets during democrat responses (or preemptive strikes) because their comments make me hit my own head.

Isn't his five inch thick layer of fat enough?
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Soon to be followed by "chess helmets".
To: Hemingway's Ghost
Kennedy is so fat, I don't think he could fall over.
Roll maybe. But not fall over.

Heck, I think hockey was a lot more fun before everyone wore helmets. I made the comment to family the other night that if they want higher scoring hockey games they need to ditch the goalie masks. :-)

Nannyism run amok? Is it possible to make soccer any "sissier" than it already is? Well, the Massachusetts General Court thinks so . . . While I prefer reasoned debate and a sober assesment of fact- sometimes you just have the grab people by the collar and scream in their faces, "F* OFF, ALREADY!!"
This doesn't gore my particular ox- but the creeping incremental nannyism, does. As another poster put it, why don't they just force us all to wear helmets 24/7/365?
