I sure don't want him in the Oval Office.
To: areafiftyone
Yeah. So, Rudy carries South Carolina, Texas and Mississippi, too?

I don't want him. Pro choice+ Pro Gun Control=Rhino. He is very good in a crisis as we all know, but politically he is closer to Teddy Kennedy than he is to GWB and GWB is already too liberal for my tastes.

But whatever they say to a pollster, when it came down to Rudy vs. Hillary for the Presidency in 2008, I'm betting New Yorkers would vote for the default Democrat over the 9/11 folk hero.

Do you want Hillary Rodham Clinton to run for president in 2008?
Yes 31%
No 57%
Undecided 12% Only 31% of New Yorkers want Hillary to run? I doubt the results of this entire survey.

Rudy is a gun grabbing, for the murder of unborn babies and left wing.
If he is forced down the throat of the Republican Party.
I will vote CP.
He screamed worse than Dean about Florida allowing people to buy guns.
One huge problem in politics is the favorite son types instead of the best man for the job.

I'd like to see Rudy run against Clintoon for her senate seat(but we know he won't run...making too much money in the private sector)
I like Cheney/Rice in 2008( only if Rice won't come back to CA to run against DiFi for her senate seat next year)

I don't want a New Yorker for president at all. They are all way out in left field and don't have a clue about the rest of the United States.

And we all want to win the lottery.
Hey RINO's, ABROM, anybody but Rudy or Mccainiac.

Shortly after 9/11 I thought that most mayors would react well in a crises of such magnitude. I didn't give Giuliani as much credit as most. However, the way Nagin handled Katrina changed that for me. I look back now and see Rudy has powerful leadership potential.
He is a RINO, but I would take him over Hitlery.

Too bad Rudy could never get past the die-hard, one-issue "conservatives" (pro-life peanut gallery)within the party to actually get the nomination. It's a pity that a good man (and candidate) can't advance because of his views on this issue.
Before I get flamed, I too am opposed to abortion (because of personal experience with it, not because of religious or political or ideological reasons), but I can look past the issue if it means a qualified individual might have a chance to run the country.
Fire away, if you wish...

"Many adults in the Empire State want a former New York City mayor to run for president in 2008"
AS we care.
New York is a bastion of left-wing liberal Democrats. An endorsement from THEM should be a condemnation in the eyes of most Republicans.
Remember:
Giuliani: pro-gay, pro-illegal aliens, anti-gun and historically anti-Republican = No Chance in Hell of getting a Republican nomination.

Republicans will not win the White House in 2008 without Guliani, Condi or McCain.. and McCain is a stretch.
there is just not any Republicans popular enough to take the election from Hillary.
Guliani will carry FL easily, NY easily, and possibly California. That is a large amount of electorals just right there. He also has a huge chance of taking other liberal northeast states.

On too many important issues, I don't see that much difference bewteen Hillary and Giuliani. (2A is a major one for me).
I decided many years ago that I'd never again vote for a democrat, but I might have to change my mind if it would come to a choice between those two.
With Giuliani as President, the Republicans in the House and Senate wouldn't be in a position politically to thwart gun control initiatives on his part. Too much downside to openly opposing the President of your own party.
On the other hand, Republicans could, would, and should oppose Hillary making the same proposals. Plus, with Hillary being justifiably despised by Republicans, pressure could be maintained on the Republican Congressmen and Senators to fight her.
