Winnie to keep vow to 'Tookie '

Johannesburg - If it was still his family's wish for him to be buried in South Africa, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela would do everything in her power to ensure that Stanley "Tookie" Williams's body was brought back here.

A spokesperson for the ex-wife of former president Nelson Mandela, told Beeld this on Tuesday.

Convicted murderer Williams, 51, was executed on Tuesday in San Quention Prison in California, despite repeated requests from groups opposed to the death penalty and celebrities, asking California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to grant him clemency.

Madikizela-Mandela joined the ranks of celebrities such as the Rev Jesse Jackson, film star Jamie Foxx and rap singer Snoop Doggy Dogg who came out against Schwarzenegger and the US government's use of the death penalty.

Madikizela-Mandela's spokesperson Udo Froese said that, so far, there had not been any official communication between her and the Williams family in Los Angeles.

'She will keep her promise'

"She is not prepared at present to comment on Schwarzenegger's decision to proceed with Williams's execution," said Froese.

"But, she will keep her promise to ensure that Williams is buried in South Africa."

Former gang leader Williams, who was given the death penalty in 1981 for murdering four people in 1979, announced last week that his last wish was to be buried in South Africa.

His ex-wife, Bonnie Williams Taylor, said in a telephone interview that Williams had been "very impressed" with Madikizela-Mandela when he met her in 1996.

Peace prize nominee five times

"She had an enormous influence on his life and it is his wish to be laid to rest there," she said.

Williams had been nominated five times for the Nobel Peace Prize for his part in the anti-gang struggle in America.

His fate was in Schwarzenegger's hands, but the governor decided there were insufficient grounds to commute Williams's death sentence to life imprisonment.

"Is his (Williams's) remorse sincere, or merely an empty promise?" asked Schwarzenegger. - Beeld/Sapa

The brutal and unrepentant Crips gang founder and murderer  "Tookie" Williams apparently found a soul mate.  They seem to have a lot in common.

Ordinarily I would welcome the removal of "Tookie's" remains on principle, so that they would not despoil our great nation any further beyond what this rabid subhuman has already done in life, but in this case there is a danger of his gravesite becoming a shrine of sorts and given particular honors.  To avoid this, I would instead suggest cremation and an air-scattering of the ashes over France.

At least the article mentioned that he was a convicted murderer along with a five-time No-Value Prize nominee.

Winnie Mandela, ex-wife of South Africa's former leader Nelson Mandela – and long known for her open advocacy of torturing rivals, as well as for her 1991 conviction for being an accessory to the brutal murder of a 14-year-old boy – wants to travel to Iraq to become a "human shield" so she can protect Iraqi children from American attacks, according to the South African Press Association.

Good. U.S. soil doesn't need the pollution.

Winnie is most likely totally entranced with Tookie's having taken out an entire Asian family.

She has her own problems with Asians in South Africa.

I'm not opposed to the death penalty, but I am opposed to celebrities. (Nice sentence up there--who is the proofreader--Stevie Wonder?)

Agreed.  It actually makes it easier to keep up on news and events....when you hear of prominent Hollywood celebrities rallying to support or oppose something, you know that the truly enlightened perspective is on the other side of their efforts.

True, although they already have a living shrine

It's so telling that racist, murderous megalomaniacs like Winnie Mandela are held up by the Left as being their Saints.

Agreed.  In the same spirit, hopefully France, Canada or Belgium will take Michael Moore's corpse away when he falls over from arteriosclerosis.  Such a burial in the US would not only be a profound insult to our country, but would cause a monumental ecological disaster as well.

Maybe the Crips will follow him to South Africa.

Hey, let's make a deal. You get Tookie's remains if you also take 30,000 slime ball Crips with him. And you can do anything you want with them. Do you have a lot of used spare tires? We might thrown in 30,000 gallons of gasoline!
