A fire that destroyed a west Sydney church hall may be linked to the race riots in Cronulla, NSW Premier Morris Iemma says.
Four men were seen near the Uniting Church hall, which is next to an Islamic centre, in Auburn before the fire broke out about 1.30am (AEDT) today.
It took about 30 firefighters up to two hours to control the blaze, which is still burning in small pockets this morning.
The fire follows two days of violent assaults and vandalism during ethnic clashes in Sydney.
It also follows an incident last night in nearby St Joseph the Worker Primary School where shots were fired into cars and parents abused during a Christmas carols service.
No one was hurt and police are investigating.
Mr Iemma said today he had been in contact with police about the church hall blaze.
Asked if the blaze was related to the riots, Mr Iemma said "it may be".
"I've been in contact with the police this morning and the police are treating it as suspicious," he told the Nine Network.
Assistant Police Commissioner Mark Goodwin said it was unknown if the fire was linked to the recent violence but the scene would be examined today to determine the fire's cause.
"Auburn has not been a location where violence or confrontation with police has occurred," he said.
If this were a mosque, the fire would be front-page news all over the world.
Then again, it's so common for Islamos to descerate churches that it isn't news anymore.

Several people were hospitalized and others were arrested as violence spread to nearby suburbs later Sunday night.
Some in the crowds where identified as israeli mossad agents provoking and directing the attacks the mossad operation began with a staged attack last week on two beach lifeguards, while the mossad agents where posing as men of Arab origin.
Since then, jewish infested local radio talk shows have broadcast lies to instigate unrest and have carried out a cell-phone text-message campaign calling for violence.
Local people have been used by mossad operation to further their agenda of stealing land in the Middle East.
My God, it's almost like it came from Scrappleface or the Onion.
It has always been a wonder to me how we Jews, numbering just 12-15 million, could keep so many intricate conspiracies underway at the same time.
Then again, I am pretty low on the conspiracy org chart (assigned to nuclear weapons and UFO cover-ups) so I can't actually say what really smart Jews are capable of doing.

He was saying that he made several suggestions on how to handle the situation, and they did take a few of his suggestions, but they also rejected afew. One of his suggestions that were rejected was the idea of surrounding the rioting muslims and cutting them off, there by arresting all of them, instead a only a few. He claimed they rejected it, due to lack of man power, in which he commented that 6 months ago, the present leadership cut the force by 700 policemen. He also stated about coming down harder on the muslim utes would do more good than just slap on the wrists to lesson the chances of retaliation... He really spelled it out, and I was proud of the guy.
Why, yes, it is. I need to get it rebound soon, though, it suffered some radiation and heat damage during a recent operation. I have dibs on Michael Moore's hide for this, should be good for the whole of the next printing as well.
