...but don't you feel great knowing these people were treated decently and enjoy a vast array of rights and privileges in our country?

That's 51 we know about.

How many don't we know about?

Methinks more than 51 might have gotten in unchallanged.

One would expect terrorists to be better financed then the average illegal and to be able to pay for the deluxe smuggling service so perhaps even more of them would make it through successfully

While I understand and agree with your sentiments, I suspect that the financing for terrorism is not what it used to be. One of the places where our WOT has had some successes has been in freezing their funds. I think that's part of the reason why the jihadists are hanging out in Iraq instead of coming here.

Why don't we close our borders .... is Bush scared of pissing Fox off. This makes NO sense whatsoever. Unless...the feds are up to more than they want American Citizens to know about?

The 51 are those arrested; we have no idea how many are here in sleeper cells; we have no idea how many others have come, illegally, through the border.

BTW, how many bombs is needed to kill potentially THOUSANDS of innocent Americans?

How many more thousands of innocent American lives at risk of being murdered by terrorists is acceptable to you?

But, but, but, we have it on the Highest Authority that these are just willing workers, looking for willing employers...

Our government leaders have evidently decided that we can accept massive terrorist attacks as long as they don't occurr too often. The border remains open and immigration from terrorist states continues. Low wage workers trump everything else these days.

U.S. Detains 38 Iraqis At Mexican Border

Afghans Among Border Patrol Detainees

The Monitor
By Jo Napolitano
February 18, 2002

FALFURRIAS — Two illegal immigrants from Afghanistan, one from Pakistan and two from Mexico were apprehended by Border Patrol Agents during a routine stop in Falfurrias early Sunday morning.

“There was a bailout,” said Johnny Garcia, Supervisory Border Patrol Agent in Falfurrias. “We pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and everybody ran. Six people were apprehended and it is unknown if anybody else escaped.” Garcia said the vehicle was stopped near Ranch Road 755 near La Gloria at 7 a.m. All six detainees are young men, possibly in their 20s. Border Patrol Agents said they do not know if any of the detainees have terrorist connections, but they suspect they do not.

“Nothing like that has been determined,” Garcia said. “But is unlikely.”

Garcia said they did not find any illegal material in the vehicle, such as drugs or arms.

The detainees are currently in the custody of the Immigration and Naturalization Services.

“They are currently at the checkpoint Falfurrias,” Garcia said. “They are cooperative and docile. Two of them are Afghan nationals who have fled their country for the U.S., and during that journey they opted to enter the country through the Mexican border.”

All of the six detainees will be sent to the Port Isabel Service Processing Center Monday morning.

“They will go to a hearing before an immigration judge,” Garcia said. “Their fate is in the hands of the judge. The judge will decide if there will be a formal deportation.”

Garcia said the agency had a difficult time getting information from the Middle Eastern detainees because of a language barrier.

“There is a communication problem,” Garcia said. “They speak limited English. They have had the opportunity to speak with translators and it has not been determined if they are association with terrorists. That’s unlikely at this time.”

I don't see what the problem is. They're just willing to conduct the martyrdom operations that American terrorists aren't.

>> I believe the Government of Canada does not take terrorism seriously and encourages anti-American sentiments.<<
We have similar neighbors to the south as well.

When does Presidential non action on a secure border = impeachment?

Americans were scared to death after 9/11/01, yet Mr. Bush left the borders open, and four years later they still remain open. That is an impeachable offense IMO.

Now he wants to give amnesty to the hordes already here, paving the way for more to come. I am so disgusted with him, and I don't believe a word he says about "securing our borders". He's four years late.

[Border Patrol] Agents nationwide were assaulted 687 times, with all but one occurring on the border with Mexico.

I suspect that the financing for terrorism is not what it used to be.

I'm sure we have put a dent in their finances but with oil at $60 a barrel, the Saudi Wahhabis who finance their operations have plenty more to give. Did you see this sentence in the article?

The JTTF document shows that the suspected illegal alien terrorists were arrested on a wide variety of charges from smuggling weapons into the U.S. to illegally wiring large sums of money into the country.

What Tancredo said:"If this isn’t a wake-up call to our lax border security, I don’t know what is"

What our "Republican" "leaders" heard: "Blah blah blah blah blah blah"
