Pain medication is necessary for millions of people who otherwise could not perform activities of daily living.

Then, you were listening to somebody else. I've been listening to Rush for 13 years and he has never expressed such a thought. Drugs and the WOD have never been an issue for him.

Even heroes are human.......My "guess" is that there are millions that have suffered similar weaknesses....but not you...you extra-special I have never been weak person.
Sorry, but I tend to cut Rush some slack because of his back problems and the failed back surgeries. It's not like he set out to become addicted on purpose. I'm wondering how much culpability his doctor might have in this. Normally, physicians do whatever they can to control pain while avoiding the potential of addiction to powerful pain killers, which they know is a real possibility.
The only thing I wonder about is this: How the heck can he play golf with back pain?
