I hope the delay doesn't mean that Maria is trying to talk him into clemency.

We california republicans are fed up with arnold already, he lets this scumbag live and Grey Davis would stand a better chance of getting elected.

"Why is Arnold going on TV to make his own announcement instead of handling it the Barber way? This more visible announcement dramatizes Tookie's legal fate"
...
I agree with you. I think it's the wrong choice to make a spectacle out such matters. It carnival-izes and trivializes the victims and their families while no matter how one views the "convicted" perp, puts this cretin on a pedestal.

My guess:
Arnold will not only deny clemency but announce that he has decided to carry out the execution himself - using his fists.

Pretty funny. The original question is still there.

Fox is saying the Govinator will be speaking shortly, so I figured it was time to start a live thread for posterity.Has anybody actually verified that Arnold is gonna make an anouncement?
Or did Fox just fall for a left-wing rumor to put pressure on the Terminator?
Description of Tookies crime scene:
(warning graphic)
Gasping For Air
As they entered, they saw Yen-I Yang lying on a sofa. He was "soaked with blood," "gasping for air, and making gurgling noises." (TT 1501). They also saw the bloodied body of Tsai-Shai Yang. She was making "gurgling noises" and "gasping for air," with "her knees drawn up under her, and her face down on the floor," as if she had been forced to bow down before being killed. (TT 1502). Lastly, the deputies found the body of Yee-Chen Lin lying on the hallway floor.
According to the forensic pathologist, Yen-I Yang suffered two shotgun wounds. One shotgun wound was to his left arm and abdomen. This wound shredded Yen-I's left arm, fractured his ribs, and shattered his spleen, right kidney, bowel and large vessels. The other shotgun wound was to the lower left chest. This wound also fractured ribs and shattered the spleen, right kidney, bowel and large vessels.

I hope the delay doesn't mean that Maria is trying to talk him into clemency.I've wondered about Maria too. I would imagine that if she were governor she would give Tookie clemency. Arnold may be sleeping in the dog house tonight. I don't think he will give Tookie clemency.

Oh, that is easy to answer. I was raised in Commie_fornia and all of my teachers from kindergarten to Grad school were friggin' communists. However, they did not like the pejorative term and referred to themselves as Progressives of one stripe or another -- usually DemocRATS but occasionally a few would call themselves Socialists etc.
At any rate one of my high school English teachers during one of his rants said the following: "It is better for a 100,000 rapists and murderers to go free than for the State to kill one innocent man."
I am not saying I understand the rationality there and I definitely do not agree with it but that mentality is coded into all liberals/leftists DNA. For them the worst horror in the world is to have to contemplate the possibility of one innocent man being executed by the State. Therefore, the laws constructed by liberals have consistently hamstrung police attempts to enforce laws against criminals, prosecutors from convicting criminals and judges from sentencing criminals.
Notice, the liberal mind is not concerned about what those 100,000 rapists and murders will do to free innocent victims! When I asked my teacher about that problem, he said we should not be concerned. That is a law enforcement problem. Nobody is forcing anyone to become a policeman!!

You'll have to pardon the accuracy of my recollection since it's so infrequent that California hosts an execution. Exactly why you folks are no good at it. Here in Texas, he would have been past tense about 10 years ago and the world would be spared one bad children's author.

Jesus taught individuals to forgive... he didn't preach that people shouldn't be held responsible for the bad things they do. To argue that since Jesus preached forgiveness that no one who says they are sorry should be punished is complete nonsense and would lead to anarchy.
here's an example:
if my child lies to me... I will forgive them because I love them... but they are still gonna be grounded for a week.

This may be an example of Schwarzenegger's ineptitude at politics. He's more accustomed to the promotional nature of things, and didn't recognize that this is not one of those moments.
Whichever way he decides, this could have had a much lower profile. He's now put himslef in a no-win situation poltically. Not to mention why he would want to take on this burden emotionally.
This shouldn't be a review of whether Tookie should live or die, but rather, did the people who made this initial decision make the right call.

(The War on Terror: Win It There or Fight It Here)
Unlike the peaceful, painless demise awaiting Williams, the deaths of his victims were horrific: He shot each of them at close range with a 12-gauge shotgun, shattering their bodies so that they died in agony. Their suffering amused him. ''You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him," Williams bragged after killing Albert Owens. According to the district attorney's summary of the evidence, ''Williams then made gurgling or growling noises and laughed hysterically about Owens's death."

If Jesus didn't believe in the death penalty, then why did He pay it for us?
