It's not 1962 anymore. The President cannot force a hostile media to do ANYTHING. Sorry the world doesn't work the way Hollywood taught you it does. I would of thought by now the dozens of out right fraudulent "news" stories published in the last 20 months would of woken old Conservatives up to the reality the Dinosaur Media is NOT the media they grew up with. You cannot FORCE the media to do anything. What you CAN do is go around or over them. Sorry reality does jive with your FEELINGS about it.

I read a British publication this morning (maybe the Mirror?) that said he was beaten by an angry crowd and then turned over to authorities. I like that version much better!

IIRC, the opposition response has been status quo for several decades. I think it became routine practice in the 70's or 80's.

However, since January 2001, the rebuttal speech has been given MORE publicity than the President's speech.

If the Administration wanted some information publicized today all they need to do is give a deep background on it with the caveat that they sit on it for a week because 'lives are at risk'.
