Clooney sick of 'liberal' being 'bad word'
WorldNetDaily ^ | December 11, 2005 | NA

Hollywood's George Clooney is making no apologies for being a political liberal.

"Yes, I'm a liberal and I'm sick of it being a bad word," the actor-director tells the Sunday Times of London.

"I don't know at what time in history liberals have stood on the wrong side of social issues. We thought that blacks should sit at the front of the bus, that women should be allowed to vote, that maybe McCarthy was a jerk, that Vietnam was wrong and strip-bombing Cambodia was probably stupid. We've been on the right side of all these issues."

"I don't know at what time in history liberals have stood on the wrong side of social issues. We thought that blacks should sit at the front of the bus......"

This alone demonstrates Mr. Clooney's ignorance. It was George Wallace, a DEMOCRAT, that stood in the doorway of the University of Alabama, preventing blacks from attending classes. It was Ross Barnett, a DEMOCRAT, that did the same at the University of Mississippi. It was DEMOCRAT controlled governorships and legislatures all across the South that put Jim Crow laws on the books and did EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to keep the South segregated.

You want the wrong side of a social issue, Mr. Clooney. Start with that!

Oh, and BTW: the Vietnam war was started by a Liberal (JFK), pursued by a Liberal (LBJ) and ended by a (sorta) conservative (Nixon - who, BTW, worked with McCarthy...).

Vietnam was the right war, fought the wrong way. We sent a message to the Soviets that told them they were going to have to pay a very high price to expand their influence in the Third World. If we did not stand up in Vietnam, the Wall probably never would have fallen.

And they have such a poor grasp of history, they probably don't even understand the significance of the term "progressive" in American political history, either. LOL

If George Clooney(Looney) is sick of liberal being a bad word then maybe he should try to get himself and the rest of his ilk to stop acting like idiots.

Hey, all you "liberal" guys, here's a secret: Stop telling everyone what to do all the time and stop taking everyone's money all the time and then maybe "liberal" wouldn't be a bad word anymore.

"...that women should be allowed to vote....."

At the request of Susan B. Anthony, Sen. A.A. Sargent, a Republican from California, introduced the 19th Amendment in 1878. Sargent’s amendment (also known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment) was defeated four times by a Democrat-controlled Senate. When the Republican Party regained control of Congress in 1919, the Equal Suffrage Amendment finally passed the House in May of that year and in the Senate in June.

I wish we had an "Ann Coulter Rule" for Clooney. Sigh.

And I'm sick of liberals claiming credit for good things that conservatives have done.

The liberals do seem to be on the right on some issues, but it's only because they are so extremely far to the left that they appear to be on the right.

"Yes, I'm a liberal and I'm sick of it being a bad word," the actor-director tells the Sunday Times of London.

Today's so-called liberals support and promote the murder
of 2000 Americans every day before noon for the last thirty years.

And they wonder why it's considered a bad word.

Maybe we should cut Mr. Clooney a little slack....he's obviously got brain damage and it's not polite to pick on the disabled.

In 2004, Clooney was playing former CIA agent Robert Baer in the movie Syriana, based on Baer's memoirs of being an agent in the Middle East. During the filming of a scene in which Baer was tortured, Clooney was tied to a chair, and the chair was accidentally kicked over. Clooney hit his head on the concrete floor, tearing his dura mater. His doctors dismissed his complaints until his nose began leaking Cerebrospinal Fluid, and he has since undergone multiple operations to correct this.

The term "liberal" in this day and age connotates anti-US military, pro-UN, unpatriotic, pro gun-control, anti-christian, secular humanist, socialism, high tax, anti-death penalty, limp-wristed response to terrorism, pro-gay marriage, activist courts to enforce above, coddling terrorists who are captured, and an unhealthy obsession with destroying American influence and prestige over the globe. It is sad but true.

Multi-culturalism is the anchor about the neck of "liberalism" and it only grows heavier. Liberalism is done even if conservatives stay the course and whine about economic growth and taxes (nice safe issues). Look at the constituency of the political arm of liberalism and its little more than backwards tribalists pontificating hate for the West and tribal advantage for themselves. Conservatives are at fault for giving the Clooneys of the world a pass by letting him define liberalism itself. Instead we should throw the dead weight of multi-culturalism about his neck and then let him sink.

"We thought that blacks should sit at the front of the bus..."

This caught my eye because hours earlier I caught a snippet of the hideous Maureen Dowd championing her dream ticket of Hillary & Barak.

Now that presents an interesting quandry. Which one did Dowd relegate to the "back seat" of Vice Presidencial candidacy? Was Hillary sitting at the front of this particular bus?
