Survey finds optimism in new Iraq

The poll found Iraqis think their lives will improve in the coming year An opinion poll suggests Iraqis are generally optimistic about their lives, in spite of the violence that has plagued Iraq since the US-led invasion. But the survey, carried out for the BBC and other media, found Iraqis appear less happy about the overall situation.

Their priority for the coming year would be the restoration of security and the withdrawal of foreign troops.

A majority of the 1,700 people questioned wanted a united Iraq with a strong central government.

Hopes for future

Interviewers found that 71% of those questioned said things were currently very or quite good in their personal lives, while 29% found their lives very or quite bad.

I don't. Newsweek is still bashing its head against the hate-Bush wall.

Things will improve significantly when Walmart starts opening stores. Everybody loves to shop and find good deals. Even Sunni's.

Shoot, it was in part commission by ABC News, I wonder how they will explain it to their stockholders if they don't use it?

I personally cannot believe this is actually printed in the BBC, complete with a picture of an Iraqi child giving a US soldier the thumbs up. An accident maybe? Or a deliberate policy to only show the good news on weekends, like Fox?

Either that, or maybe the daily rags are tired of seeing their circulations slip and are responding to some of the criticism against them. I mean, even retards are capable of learning from failure.

But not Newsweek.

Only publicly held media companies have any hope of surviving the liberals in the midst. Many of the worst rags are still privately held by old money families. These won't be happy until they've lost the family jewels in their push for communism.

Silly blue bloods. And what's really funny is that people like to think that they vote Republican.

Iraqi's optimism for the future of their country is now a higher percentage than Americans'. Which goes to show how our media is obsessed with finding the dark cloud in anything that is positive. However, just like good socialists, our media is determined to dash Iraq's hopes so they can share our misery.

And it's a great example to whiny limp liberals that America isn't exactly going down the tubes, even if Hollywood celebrities tell them it is.

Just because it is "new" to the lamebrained press does not mean it is new to the Iraqi people.

Acutally, it's an Iraqi soldier the kid is thumbing... even better than giving a US soldier a thumbs up, if you ask me, since that soldier will still be there patrolling the streets after we've left. :)

"They thundered that Bush was rushing into War, that we were facing Quagmire and the “Feared Republican Guard”."

Ha, I remember this. The MSM was saying the same thing before we went into Afghanistan: that the Afghan fighters were battle-hardened badasses and American soldiers were a bunch of wussies.

That, of course, was before the massive military pwnings that were the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
