They're fanatics because they want to show people the results of drunk drivers?
What is it with your obssession with DWI? Been arrested a few too many times on it?

I lost respect for MADD when they remained silent during the Rodney King incident.

Right! They weren't at the courthouse to influence juries; it was just a coincidence! What a bunch of screwballs.

"Fanatics."
I have dealt with MADD and find them to be only slightly more radical than PETA, ELF, etc.
Unbending ... "Well, you didn't have a daughter murdered by a drunk!" Nor did she, her daughter was driving 90MPH+ and ran a light. She broadsided a guy who was headed home after having a beer. His BAC was under legal limit. You do understand that the DUI stats include even not-at-fault drivers who have been drinking.
Radical NUTS.
Another told me that anyone who drinks should be put to death.
The founder of MADD was later stopped and charged with DUI.

As long as the MADD types weren't lying, I have no problem with this. The jurors are supposed to come from the community and have the community sense. If displays like this are a common feature in the community, they shouldn't the experience of the jury pool reflect that?
MADD may be successful, but there are still a lot of drunks on the road.

Looks like an attempt at jury tampering to me.

If you want to shirk your jury duty, and if you get selected for a case involving abuse of alcohol just say you're a member of MADD.

MADD stood for something twenty years ago when the BAC limit was .15 and most DUI penalties were a slap on the wrist. MADD has been enourmously successful at changing public perception of drunk driving, but it has failed to recognize a point of diminishing returns. MADD was originally formed to change the laws to get blatant, habitual offenders off the roads. It was never meant to go after average folks who have one or two drinks somewhere. It has since turned into a prohibitionist organization. This is so true, the founding 'mother' of the organization has since abandonded it.
