Chris Wallace: Mike Wallace Has 'Lost It'
"Fox News Sunday" anchorman Chris Wallace says father Mike Wallace has "lost it" - after the legendary CBS newsman told the Boston Globe last week that the fact George Bush had been elected president shows America is "[expletive]-up."
"He's lost it. The man has lost it. What can I say," the younger Wallace lamented to WRKO Boston radio host Howie Carr on Friday.
"He's 87-years old and things have set in," the Fox anchor continued. "I mean, we're going to have a competence hearing pretty soon."
Wallace Jr. quickly dispelled any notion that he was joking. When Carr suggested that his comments were likely to be covered by NewsMax, he responded: "You know what? Fine. Go ahead. Call them. That's fine. I'll stand by that."
Returning to the topic of his father's competence, Wallace Jr. explained: "He's checked out. I don't understand it," beyond the fact that Wallace Sr. has "problems with the war."
"I don't know why he said what he said," he added.
On Thursday, the elder Wallace told the Boston Globe that if he had the chance to interview President Bush, he'd ask:
"What in the world prepared you to be the commander in chief of the largest superpower in the world? In your background, Mr. President, you apparently were incurious. You didn't want to travel. You knew very little about the military. . . . The governor of Texas doesn't have the kind of power that some governors have. . . . Why do you think they nominated you? . . . Do you think that has anything to do with the fact that the country is so [expletive] up?"

Surely you have those sometimes perhaps *energetic* conversations with a sustaining and obvious deep respect and apprecation for her. A good thing for both of you, if so.
Is he talking about Bush? He DOES know Bush was IN the military for years, right?
Pathetic.
I seen it, been through it. Not easy, and made plenty of miscues.
I remember he had ordered a meatloaf sandwich...but
i can't remember what the dust up was about off the
top of my head.
..Funny the things one remembers...%o)
Probably because the meatloaf sandwich was
of greater interest to me....I *do* love a
good meatloaf sandwich. :-P~~~~~
On the other hand, Chris seems to have moved distinctly to the Right in the time I've been listening. Not sure I'd diss my dad on a national stage, though.""
Could you stand by and be silent when you are in Chris Wallace's job. Others seem to be agreeing with him, as there has been no outcry to his remarks.
I think Chris is between a rock and a hard place. Mike is his dad, but Mike is showing signs of being out there somewhere.
I used to really like Imus, but he and his insufferable wife have lost it big time. Can't listen anymore...they even give self-obsessed celebrities a bad name. Yecchhhh.
An ex-President should never speak ill of his successor in private, and to do so in public is rotten.""
We now have 2 of them on the world stage doing just that....
Both names start with C and I could use a very bad word for my description of each of them.
Neither seems to know ANY shame. They both are Anti-American, IMO.
It was very obvious in the interview Chris did with his OLD MAN that there is NO love between these two !! The interview was very embarrassing to be truthful (the OLD MAN had never seen his grandchild)...how sad !!""
Mike has never gotten over losing his other son, Peter, IMO.
He treats Chris like Chris is an afterthought...and not a very close to the surface one. In the interview last week I caught parts of on TV, There were pics of Peter everywhere, and I didn't see one of Chris. What a way to treat your own family.
Here I have to agree with Cronkite. If only people would take the time to observe what happens in the political arena, there would be many more conservatives after they discover how the liberals mind works.
Ignorant, not to be confused with 'stupid', as in the liberal mindset.
Ohhh yeah...I think it was because his driver
had parked in a no parking zone when MW went in to
pick up his sandwich, and when he came back out, he
"got into it" with with a parking meter cop(?), who
was giving his driver a ticket, and the the *real*
police came along.
I haven't seen my grandkids for about the last two minutes although I can hear one talking while he watches TV.:-) Oops! I just heard one of the girls in her mother's room...
LOL! That is SOOO tagline material!
But my current tag is new -- so I'll use this one after a while :)
I don't think there is any love lost between father and son.
When Chris Wallace interviewed his father on Fox Sunday he made a snide comment about his father not visiting his own great grandchild.
I read somewhere that Mike Wallace was an absentee father who was always away on assignment.
Ignorant, not to be confused with 'stupid', as in the liberal mindset.
Except Cronkite was talking about the 51% of the voting population that re-elected W.
Another lefty pursuing a divorce from reality.
You've GOT to understand how much it eats away at them that they are out of power - rejected by those they claim to be smarter than, more moral than, more compassionate than, etc.
Sucks to be them.
LOL!
"We are winning but we have got to maintain constant pressure over time with the international community and across the US government agencies. No one is afraid that we can't defeat the enemy. Our troops have the confidence, the courage, and the competence. We need the will of the American people to be sustained for the long haul."
That would include sustaining our parents as Americans. What if they are blind stubborn out of ideology, ruled out of fear, or ignorant of information how do we get that message to them without crossing the lines of respect?
In other words which comes first being a patriot or family?
