The San Francisco police videotape farce
The rest of the country is accustomed to regarding San Francisco as a nuthouse (apologies to Rick Moran), so the supposedly scandalous prank videotape produced by Officer Andrew Cohen, and the reaction thereto by the citys Mayor and Police Chief have raised few eyebrows nationally.
However, this may be one instance in which the nutjobs who run the city have outpaced the nutjobs who vote them into office. Debra Saunders, the sensible columnist at the San Francisco Chronicle has put her finger on the real issue:
IF ANYONE should be suspended because of the brouhaha surrounding videos shot by members of the San Francisco Police Department, it is Chief Heather Fong. Her job is to run a solid department that fights crime, which means she has to punish rogue officers who hurt law-abiding citizens, but also stand up for street cops who endure a lot of abuse as they strive to make this city a safe place.
Instead, she showed up with Mayor Gavin Newsom for a press conference Wednesday and supported the mayors call for as many as four whole investigationsby the SFPD, a blue ribbon commission, the city Human Rights Commission and the Commission on the Status of Womenas they announced that 20 officers will be suspended for their amateur-hour videos.
Andrew Cohen, a liberal from Berkeley who is the father of two mixed-race children, is nobodys racist, and plenty of people know it. The offending video was for private viewing only, at a retirement party. The people who apeared in the video did so voluntarily and were making fun of themselves. The funsters included people of all races, both sexes, and probably some claiming alternative sexuality, this being San Francisco.
Quite frankly, the Mayor and Police Chief look like idiots, and even San Franciscans recognize that. A champion of free speech when it involves pornography in libraries and sexually explicit anti-AIDS advertising at bus stops, the citys leader suddenly turns blue nosed when it comes to non-PC joking around by the cops who live under tremendous stress, working in the citys most dangerous neighborhood, undermanned.
People who know him fairly well tell me Gavin Newsom is a very smart feller. I dunno. To me he looks a lot like the white version of David Dinkins: well-dressed but clueless.

It contains nothing more than parodies of various aspects of police work and now this short video is being used by the left as a hammer against working police officers
I agree with Michael Savage who believes that the video is being used, as a tool by the Mayor and police chief to purge SFPD of non-conformist officers who do not fit the mold of the gay and trans-gender city by the bay.

San Francisco's City Leadership is a sewer of Liberalism.
San Francisco is the rectum of Moscow.
This news article posted previously gives a little background on the way that many veteran SF police officers are targeted by the Mayor and police chief for termination.

You mean they have the nerve to tell the homos that if they want to live they have to stop putting you-know-what you-know-where? Or do the ads stress that AIDS is Bush's fault for not pushing massive funding of research into their behaviorally spread illness?
We've all been watching
a new SOCIALISM born.
News socialism.
The idea is
anything ANYONE does
is the business of
EVERYONE who sees.
So, we have Beth Twitty and
Terri Schiavo
and endless stories
cranking national passions
when really they are
nobody's business
except for the folks involved.
But they can be used
by this or that group
to further their agenda.
And Americans
are just so NOSEY
this kind of socialism
probably will rule.
I grew up in San Francisc0.

If you want to be added or removed from this list, please notify me...
Originally, the Nuclear Option Ping List started out as a practical joke. With all the vitriolic response I received from certain un-named individuals, I figured it would be a great idea to do it for real...
I have observed here on Free Republic, a never ending flaming of religious folks and conservatives by people who promote things such as drug abuse, homosexuality, the ritual murder of abortion and other garbage.
Not being an orthodox or ecumenical atheist, it has really stretched my patience. I do not think policemen are jack-booted thugs, nor do I look at people who want to protect their families from filthy scum as brownshirts.
The purpose of this is to alert people to the cultural Marxism run amok... Drugs, sex perverts, pornography (in film and in music), marijuana, liquor, bashing the religious people, destroying social institutions (like marriage and the Boy Scouts), etc., etc.,... ad nausea...
The druggies like the sex perverts can only perpetuate an ever increasing market for their filth by molesting the minds and bodies of the young ones... this is the only way they get new Demo-rat voters...
It is no coincidence Islamic pagans hate Israel, Jews, Christians and Western Civilization. The entire basis of Western Civilization is Mosaic Law, something both the Neo-Pagan Left and the pagan Islamic thugs cannot abide and wish to destroy.
The very idea that human beings have individual rights not subject to the whims of a monarch, but subject to the laws of Yahweh, is directly from Moses.
Historically, this is proven over and over again with the succsessive conflicts between the forces of paganism and the Judaic culture. It is being played out here and all over the world today...
Observing this as an atheist, I prefer the paradigm of a Judaic culture to the chaotic death cult of New Age neo-pagan absurdity.
San Francisco was a hub for some of the loudest screamers proclaiming that abuse at Abu Ghraib....

The same old crowd of whacked-out losers that populate this major embarassment of a city. It remains the country's largest outdoor insane asylum...
Prayers for the SFPD. Don't know how they function under Fong in that sodomite pit.
Investigations by committess are the stock-in-trade of stuffed shirt politicians who don't have any standards besides getting re-elected.
The 9/11 comission is a good example. The chief hooligan (Jamie Gorelick) that should have been investigated sat on the investigation board instead.
I don't know about hilarious. I mean, they pretty much used a bunch of cliches in those videos. Some parts made me chuckle, and I can definatly see what they are making fun of, but as far as hilarous, not really.
But I do think that all of this hoopla over it is total BS, the only thing (to me) that they should get a verbal reprimand for is for using police resources, but really, when you are in a job like that, you do stuff like this (I know because we did similar stuf in the Navy, and it was way way way more offensive).
It isn't about anything else. Liberals consider their idiotic notions of the social order to be sancrosanct. So you can see why they're so very, very upset.
Why any decent human being would want to deal with the freakshow that is San Francisco is beyond me, anyway.
You'd have to know the neighborhood.
The City-by-the-Bay is virtually a sovereign socialist anti-American state within the US run by an extremist and gay politburo.
Gavin Newsome, on his best day, is a lightweight. He is a helmet haired metrosexual and is, as the author suggests, all style and no substance. He could have been a real contender for the Dems over the next decade or so at the statewide and national levels, but fortunately he torpedoed his wider political future with the gay marriage fiasco, which he didn't need to do as he already had that constituency in his pocket. The fact that he is mayor of a "major" US city should be a source of embarrassment to the citizens of that city. Of course, the ability to feel shame and embarrassment is a basic human emotion that requires some degree of self-awareness, a trait the vast majority of San Franciscans lack.
I can see why people might like to live in San Francisco if it weren't for the craziness. I've only been there for a brief visit, but it's a beautiful city.
I don't know what it woudl be like to live in SF, but I've spent a good deal of my working life in Greenwich Village. It has many similar problems, but it's one of the pleasanter places to live in Manhatten. Now I live in Vermont. That too is politically crazy, but a wonderful place to live.
So maybe the police put up with all the chickens**t because they like being in San Francisco. And if they didn't do the job, somebody worse would take their places, no doubt.
SFPD Officers Defend Humor In Controversial Video
http://cbs5.com/topstories/local_story_344114206.html
(KCBS) SAN FRANCISCO - A scandalous videotape that caused the mayor to suspend 24 San Francisco police officers without pay has prompted rank and file officers who usually maintain a low profile to speak out.
A planned police rally in support of the suspended officers in front of the Hall of Justice fizzled, but some officers who did show up defended the brand of humor in the videotape before reporters.
"Sometimes the extremes that we feel and the frustrations that we feel, in order to get a laugh, the laughs have to be extreme too," Officer Sonya Morono told KCBS reporter Bob Melrose. "You cannot make a bleeding heart laugh."
One segment of the 28-minute film depicts a traffic enforcement officer running over a homeless man. Another shows officers ignoring radio dispatchers so they can visit a massage parlor. In one clip, an officer pulling over a woman, asking her get out of her car and turn around as he ogles her.
Later in the video, a black officer is shown eating from a dog bowl and an Asian-American officer has trouble riding his bicycle.
Doctored footage from a training video is used to depict retiring Bayview Station Captain Rick Bruce repeatedly rolling his tongue suggestively.
Brenda Walker, a 24-year veteran of the force who now teaches at the Police Academy, said that sometimes dark humor is what it takes to handle the level of violence and pain officers experience on a daily basis.
"It kind of helps you get by in the day when you see so many dead people and children abused and other people that are damaged," Walker said, adding that that damage sometimes becomes part of the peace officers themselves.
Twenty-four officers were suspended after Fong called the videos, some of which previously had been posted to a Web site, "egregious, shameful and despicable" for making fun of women and minorities.
Chief Fong and Mayor Newsom have been criticized by police for playing politics with the video, which Officer Morono said should be seen as a call for help.
"I've seen people die in front of me. I have seen small children recently raped by family members. I have seen people in incredible pain," Morono said.
That kind of violence is not something that can be easily forgotten when it's time to punch out, she said.
"We walk around with this burden every minute of our waking hours and even into our sleep," she said.
The mayor has promised to form a blue-ribbon committee to change the culture of the police department.
