If they riot over this, the rioters will be surprised at how unsympathetic the rest of the country is going to be.
There is only so much good will. Most of it has been spent on helping hurricane victims, and trying to do the right thing in Iraq. There is very little left to sympathize with gangsters and apologists over the execution of a multiple murderer.
If they want to riot this will work as an excuse as well as any.
Man it's Christmas, time to go out and steel some good presents.

This weekend is the time the LAPD, Highway Patrol, and other law enforcement agencies should appeal for calm to. They need the time to lay in ammunition, make sure weapons are clean and everyone is ready to report for duty Tuesday morning.
BTW, did any of the victims families threaten to riot too?

For someone that has supposedly turned his back on the gang lifestyle, the gangs sure seem upset about the prospect of him taking a dirt map.
Do a google on Crips & murder and you will see that they were responsible for 802 deaths in a single year and thousands over their existance. As a founder of the organization, Tookie shares responsibility for each of them.

The message is obvious: The savages will riot if the murderer is executed. "Whitey, better listen. Remember the riots in LA when the savages didn't get the right verdict?"
The message is stated in what they think is a very clever way. It's not clever. It's very clear to us and to the riot-mongers (the press calls them civil rights leaders).
It made a good deal of sense when it was suggested that last batch of LA riots was organized and supplied by subversives from elsewhere, and carried out by the more than willing locals.
Amazing. The third time, LA gets to choose whether it will cowtow or choose justice and civility. If they fail this one, the new coastline might start at around Needles.
Thgis should be viewed as an opportunity to take out lots of rioting gang members.
The looters should be shot in the streets. A tv in hand is all that's needed.
Those with media 'credibility', C-list celebrities and civil rights charlatans, paint the murderer as a secular saint, and now call for order in the streets when their saint is going to be executed. If my business in South Central gets burned down, I would sue Mike Farrell and Snoop Dogg and whomever else I could think of.
I sincerely doubt any homies from the hood give a hoot if Tookie dies. The white liberals might riot, that's about it.
My guess is that their biggest worry will be the Hollyweird contingent--plus Julian Phillips of Fox & Friends. MASH stars, Jamie Foxx and others just might lose control. As for the rest of L.A., well, I've heard that a lot of the Crips members don't even know who "Tookie" is these days.
