Sharon violating Israel’s covenant with God By Jerusalem Newswire Editorial Staff

April 28th, 2005

JERUSALEM - Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is, with his plan to uproot the Jews of Gaza and northern Samaria, violating a divine covenant whereby the Almighty deeded the entire land of Israel to the Jewish people as an eternal possession.

So said Knesset member Benny Elon (National Union) Wednesday in a speech to more than 50,000 anti-disengagement activists during a rally in southern Gaza.

Sharon’s treachery goes beyond violating God’s Word, however, and is directly endangering the lives of millions of Israelis, Elon charged.

"Sharon is committing two crimes," the MK emphatically stated, "he is violating a covenant that God gave us as an eternal heritage and he is endangering lives by the very creation of a terrorist state."

But “even when the knife is on our chest, it does not prevent us from praying and asking for [divine] mercy,” Arutz 7 quoted Elon as saying.

“Every one of us must act with determination and dedication to save the nation from suicide and from this satanic plan.”

MK Aryeh Eldad echoed his National Union colleague’s call to action, and urged the throngs to engage in civil disobedience in defense of their homeland.

“An historic injustice is on our shoulders. We are fighting for our homes,” Eldad said. “If [Sharon] closes Gush Katif, no one will travel in Israel. We will stop the country. No one will fly, no one will travel and no one will walk if Jews are not allowed to live in every place in the Land of Israel.”

Leftists elements of Sharon’s government later called on the Attorney General to prosecute Eldad for incitement.

Eldad later defended his statements, noting he had not called for violence.

He pointed out that “there are some racist laws which it is a moral obligation to break,” comparing the government’s decision to uproot Jews to the American segregation laws of the past century, according to The Jerusalem Post .

Such laws were defeated in the United States by the same kind of non-violent civil disobedience Eldad called for Wednesday.

Far from the sedition left-wingers accuse them of, opponents of Sharon’s plan are working to save the Jewish state, MK Effi Eitam told Army Radio Thursday morning.

Depending on how you interpret its language, the Bible's deed applies to the land from the Euphrates to the Nile. Kind of a big bite for a little country.

Correct. Israel has never possessed all the land that God gave to them.

Is Bennie Elon a moonbat? I don't know if I've ever seen him interviewed. Could he become Premier? Can Sharon and his new friend Rabin win with their new party?

Yeah, from what I understand, the land deeded to them in the Bible by God is somewhere around 300,000 square miles, and during Solomon's rule, they took control of 30,000 square miles at their zenith. They have much less than that now. Never more than 10% of what was promised. I think that's very telling as to how much we, as individuals take from God. He wants us to have so much, and we don't bother accepting it.

So aren't Israel's "neighbors" going to be surprised to see that their property lines are a bit off- ha ha. Come to think of it, I understand that the city of New Jerusalem from the dimensions given in the Bible, its base alone would cover the continental U.S. Won't that be something to see coming at you at the battle of Armeggedon- ha

Run!!!!!

Nah, from the Eurphates to the "River of Egypt" refers to the Euprhates in the north (north of Damascus) and a wadi in the south that marks the start of the Sinai peninsula (called "the River of Egypt")--not the Nile. These boundaries are north-south, not east-west.

And, Sharon is surely within his rights to manouever his forces (military and otherwise) around as necessary; he can withdraw troops from one area to strengthen another area.
(IOW, pulling out of Gaza now doesn't mean that Israel relinquishes all claim to it; it just means that for now,
it's too taxing to keep holding on to it. What happens in the future is still open.)

Elon is a nut. If God really wants the Gaza, He can put up the extraodinary cost of defending it, because it's just too expensive.

Solomon didn't fail to take all of Eretz Yisrael because he was lazy, he failed to take it because of, well, practical reality. You can't fault political leaders for bowing to the real world.

I'd say pulling out of the Land of Israel for nothing in return are the actions of a nut.

We didn't do it because we expect anything in return from the Palestinians, we did it because Gaza is indefensible and far too costly. It was a strategic retreat.

If God wants something done on earth He expects US to find the wherewithall to do it.

Your God gives presents but expects the recepient to pay for them? If you pulled that at a birthday party, you'd never get invited back.

God makes clear that He understands that not everything is possible. In cases of life or death, for example, even some of the most vital laws can be broken. Continuing to hold Gaza would have been such a case. Not only would Israelis have died, but it would have diverted scarce resources from the defense of Israel proper.

We don't "expect" you to pay for anything. We do feel, however, that in the long run it's in your interest to support us.

They are not "His" forces, and he may not be able to move them around for much longer. It may soon be time for Arik to sit with a glass of Manischewitz and remember better days.

It's not just the giving up of the Gaza, it's the turning around and doing exactly what he said he would NOT do -- be pushed by deLeeza Rice into making concessions on the separation, alrealdy yielding dead Israelis, and perhaps showing weakness in the face of violations of the handover agreement, i.e. the Kazam rockets coming over the wall.

And the Achille Lauro murderer Mazen's pleas that there is nothing he can do rings hollow. If he is emasculated, let him leave the stage until someone with will and power comes to the fore. Mazen has no intention of stopping the terror.

They are not "His" forces

They are as long as Arik is Prime Minister. Either Arik or Amir Peretz and HaAvoda --- it's your choice and it shouldn't be a hard one.

Likud is dead.

actually, they had. Kings states that they had up to Lebo Hamath and to the Nile under tribute. The terms of that covenant have been fulfilled. Tim LaHaye must've missed it.
