Al-Qaida figure arrested in Ramadi

The American military Friday arrested a high-ranking member of al-Qaida in Iraq in the town of Ramadi, the U.S. Marines said.

Amir Khalaf Fanus, also known in the Ramadi area as "the Butcher," was wanted for criminal activities including murder and kidnapping, Capt. Jeffrey S. Pool said in a statement from the town, located 70 miles west of Baghdad.

Fanus was No. 3 on a most-wanted list for Ramadi drawn up by the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division.

"He is the highest ranking al-Qaida in Iraq member to be turned into Iraqi and U.S. officials by local citizens," Pool said. "His capture is another indication that the local citizens tire of the insurgents' presence within their community."

According to Pool, Iraqi and U.S. Forces "have witnessed increasing signs of citizens fighting the terrorists within Ramadi as the Dec. 15 National Elections draw nearer."

Excellent. I am eagerly waiting for the moment when we get the Evil One, Abu Musaab Al Zarqawi.

Let's see, he has 10 fingernails...we should be able to glean some helpful info out of him with a pair of pliers and a little patience.

Then you can say HOORAY! but it will not stop the terror.
Sarkawi will be arrested someday, then some other will take his place and the terror goes on

Let's throw him in a 50 degree cold room overnight. Throw buckets of cold water on him every 10 minutes. If that doesn't work, do the old waterboarding trick.

More bad news for libs. I suppose Kerry will now accuse Iraqi citizens of "terrorizing" their neighbors.

The one that takes Zarqawi's place will not do as good of a job. He will be much less competent. He will be less trusted. He'll be easier to get rid of than Zarqawi was. Or do you think that all terrorists are equally alike? If so, you're wrong. There are only so many people within the terrorist network that are actually good at the job. Eventually, there won't be enough competent terrorists left and the network will unravel to the point that it can't restart itself.

Unimaginative, to say the least. One has to work on imagination and be picturesque. I'd say hook him up to an air compressor and inflate him a bit. The interrogator later could start with "you look a bit puffy today".

No it's not torture by definition.

It is.
BTW: Waterboarding was the preferred torture of the gestapo

It does not cause severe physical or mental pain, which is the definition of torture.

It may be cruel, but it's not torture.

but, but, but, capitulating isolationist liberal leaders have said Iraq has nothing to do with terrorism, no AQ in Iraq . . how, how, how can this be true?

Is it possible they would mislead their fellow liberals by lieing to them?

Democrats are undoubtedly demanding that he be treated nicely and that he be arrained in federal court. They are also probably denoucing the war as a complete failure because we have not yet caught numbers 1 and 2 on the list.

Staple his eyes open and strap him in a chair facing a big posters of Helen Thomas and Nancy Pelosi. It's not officially defined as torture.
