Would he risk tens of thousands of Iranian lives by attacking Israel? Do islamic suicide bombers care about their lives when they attack Israel?
Sounds like the same mentality, just on a much larger scale.
To: Nachum
We will never be able to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power, either by bombing or threats. The only rational thing that can be done now is for the international community (I know, snicker snicker) to unite over this threat, throw out the diplomatic niceties and tell Iran in stark terms that if they use nuclear weapons of any form on the state of Israel (or any other country for that matter) or provides the bomb materials to others to do the deed for them, that Iran will be in turn attacked and its cities destroyed in the same manner.
It MUST be made crystal clear to the mad mullahs that a nuclear attack by them on another country will see Iran itself turned into a radioactive sea of glass. It's time to stop pussy-footing around.

The Mad Mullahs of Iran are not insane, but they misinterpret their own book if they think there is any need to hasten their own departure from this world. Perhaps they are optimists.

Are the Mullahs sane?
The Los Angeles Times had an article a few years ago about a
Western-trainee psychiatrist who rode out the Taliban rule in Kabul.
He said that a LOT of his patients were Taliban leaders and
plenty were on psych-medications to treat their problems
(mostly depression).
(I was suprised the LA Times actually ran an article that lifted
the veil on the mental health of Islamics; it sure sounded "judgemental"!)

The sanity of the mullahs and devout islamics depends on whether or not islam is the true word of the creator of this world.
If their allah were indeed the creator, then they would be quite sane...however irrational they might appear to us infidels.
Alas, however, their allah is a liar and that makes all they believe one big lie (except for those things that, by mere happenstance, turn out to be true)...so they are, to put it in clinical terms, as "nutty as Satan's fruitcake."

Iran's best hope is to drag everything out into the daylight and dare Israel to destroy it all conventionally. Otherwise, tactical nukes may have to be deployed.

Ahmadi-Nezhad is a creature of the Khomeini cult. It's worse than that, actually. Ahmadi-Nezhad is a member of a branch of Shi'ism that Khomeini proscribed because it was too crazy even for him. That is very, very bad news.

the important question is whether Ahmadi-Nezhad is a sane man I doubt his recent rantings and threats are a sign of insanity. More likely, in my opinion, he is simply displaying the time honored Mideast tradition of saber rattling and posturing. Remember Hussein's promise of 'the mother of all battles'? I see him as a Persian Shi'ite sitting in the middle of a sea of Arab Sunnis who fears his neighbors as much as he fears Israel or the West.

Kohmeni let the hostages go after a certain U.S. administration changed. I'd say the Iranian leadership is saner than they talk.

Does anyone really believe that if Iran nuked Israel the rest of the world (UN) would condone a retaliatory strike by the US? We may be upset and ready to strike but we would be facing the same opposition we are facing now. There would be calls for sanctions and summits and everyone would condemn the Iranian action but the call would still be for a diplomatic settlement.
