Maybe he's a Bear Bryant fan. dfwgator
It is hard to see as anything other than the ugliest kind of anti-Semitism when Bobby Fischer told ESPN's Jeremy Schaap that his father, the late Dick Schaap, was "a typical Jewish snake."

Thanks! Got lost for awhile at the code pink freep thread.
And I suppose you don't remember the 1963 game against Georgia in Tuscaloosa when Bear had Arafat as an honored guest on the sidelines? ;-)
Good point, IMO.
I have.
Go to this link urging the buying and wearing of Palestinian Support Scraves
Note how the link tells you "Where to Buy One".
Check out the suggested sales outlets and check out the many available patterns:
Now compare that to a classic Houndstooth pattern:
I vote "No". Let's not be paranoid. :)
ping...
I'd be curious to see what NBC says about that.
Your vote has been duly recorded.
This is the first time it's been suggested that I had joined The Tin Foil Brigade.
Perhaps it's far-fetched, but I taped the show and viewed the close-up of Lauer repeatedly, then compared it with various variations on keffiyehs.
I don't think the posted photo of Lauer quite does justice to it. I think there was enough of a question to bring it to readers' attention and let them decide for themselves.
I was bolstered in that by the information I found, quoted in my report, to the effect that wearing "Palestinian support scarves" has become a hip thing to do in certain circles, specifically including "on talk shows."
Matt is a denizen of the hippest, chic-est circle of them all - Manhattan. If there's anyplace the trend is likely to be followed, it is there.
That pic makes me want to purchase an armored Caterpillar D-9.
googling Fischer, I see that his mother was Jewish (but apparently his father was not), which indeed does make him Jewish according to Jewish law.
That's what I found, too, which is the mirror-image the situation of Lauer, who had a Jewish father and non-Jewish mother, and hence is not Jewish.

You may be right. I've certainly been wrong often enough that even I can detect a pattern. :)
Good points, well made. Do I think fanatical anti-Semites tend to be off their rockers? You bet!
i have seen that pattern somewhere.....oh yeah, on my picnic table. Glenn Beck had an ad for his Evil COnservative Industries on his website. The Yassir Arafat Tablecloth.
Really? I can't tell.
Wow.
I did not know this!
But he's such a loser. If he was wearing it, it'll be out of style tomorrow.
