Not that I'm inclined to defend Kerry but in this case his meaning, while less than clear, was that Iraqi women and children would be frightened by American soldiers but not by Iraqi soldiers. Or at least less so by Iraqi soldiers.

Now he said that in a very crude and, in fact, foolish way. But he was really not accusing American soldiers of being terrorists, at least not in this statement about this war. The fact that he lied about the same thing in a previous war makes it quite easy and fun to jump on him after this huge gaff. I'm enjoying it. I love the new RNC commercial. I hope they keep it up. OTOH, the Dean stuff is much, much worse. And don't get me going on Pelosi.
