John McCain: U.S. Still Torturing Terrorists
NewsMax ^ | December 8, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 12/08/2005 9:37:35 AM PST by Kaslin

Sen. John McCain claimed Wednesday that the U.S. is still torturing terrorist detainees, even as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visits with European leaders to assure them that the practice is banned under U.S. law.

"We've got to stop this torture," McCain told radio host Don Imus.

"If you torture somebody, they're going to tell you what they think you want to know in order to make the pain stop," he complained.

The Republican maverick said the U.S. can't win the propaganda war "if people believe throughout the world that you are practicing cruel, inhuman, degrading mistreatment or torture on the people that you capture."

"Right now," McCain complained, "we have prisons, apparently, set up in different places in the world where we're keeping people for years."

His comments come as Dr. Rice meets with European leaders to assure them that claims about ongoing torture are baseless.

"The United States does not condone torture," she told a German audience on Tuesday. "It is against U.S. law to be involved in torture or conspiracy to commit torture. And it is also against U.S. international obligations and the President has made it very clear that U.S. personnel will operate within U.S. law and within our international obligations."

Rice also indicated, however, that interrogations conducted in the foreign prisons referenced by McCain have been productive, telling reporters, "The intelligence we gathered has helped to stop terrorist attacks and saved innocent lives in Europe - as well as in the United States and other countries."

John McCain is beyond professional help. He is totally oout of touch with reality. Its a crime this guy manages to get elected to office.

What kind of constituents do they have in Arizona??

The U.S. doesn't "torture" prisoners. We may use pressure techniques to extract information, but pressure techniques and what the prisoner views to be "degrading treatment" isn't torture.

If you want to see torture, go to Walter Reed Army Hospital and see what our soldiers have to suffer thanks to these fantic terrorists.

I would expect a John McCain from Massachusetts, New Yor, or New Jersey - but not from Arizona.

Oh, screw you McLame.

In five years which will be more important: a free and democratic Iraq setting an example for the entire mid-east or the "satisfaction" of knowing we won the propaganda war?

What a wuss!

But thank you for your service to our country.

If torturing ten muslim terrorists would save one American life all I can say is "Red is Postive and Black is Negative so crank it up".

THanks. I have wonderful children! and grandchildren!

Unfortunately, it was far easier with the children. Somehow, it didn't seem to take this much energy when I was raising the children as it does with the grandchildren. *sigh*

And before you ask, they're more energetic, we're not older! :)

Dear me and I heard last week McCain is in lead for GOP nomination for President. I honestly fear that he is brain damaged...Not his fault, but it happens

We're not torturing terrorists even half as much as we are torturing our own taxpaying citizens.

It should be obvious to all that McCain is a Democratic plant in the GOP. Send him back to them. Let him run on their ticket. I don't want him polluting ours.

What I deserve is a stronger drink than the Pepsi in my jug!

Yeah, it's a blast, but very tiring. When I consider their parent's sacrifice, my wife and my sacrifice is a piddling little thing and it's our honor to do it.

Godspeed

I think he's getting senile.

There's a lot of that going around in DC.. Must be the water.

It's amazing that Strom Thurmond in his 90's had more of his faculties than McCain and Murtha ("...redploy to the periphery like Kuwait and Okinawa."??)

AMEN!!!!!

Saddam should have been whacked in his cave - killed accidentally on purpose (he should still be assasinated), the Pres. of Iran should be decapitated after someone slowly and methodically removes his wagging tongue. I think all these terrorists and anyone who supports them should be tortured, hung up by their toenails, their eyeballs plucked from them and the men should be publically castrated. That way, when they get to the 72 virgins, they can't do anything with them. We should not be holding these idiots. All it takes is one shot to the head but if we have to hold them, make them wear panties on their heads and pray naked to Allah on their Made in America electric shock prayer rugs.

God Bless you and your family and tell them I said Thank You for all they are doing to protect this country, and let your daughter and her husband know that we DO support them here at home, in spite of the multitude of left wing nutcases who forgot to take their schizophrenic/bi-polar medicine for the last 30 years, and are suffering from too much '60's drug damage.
