I believe someone on FR once said w.r.t. Phelps that one heretic does more damage to a religion than a thousand persecutions. I see his point.
Got any biker groups in the area? Some of them helped in another protest against this "church" at another funeral.
I don't think we have an American Legion Bikers group around here. We do have the American Legion though. I'll try contacting them in the morning!
Yes, there are some biker groups, but I have no way to contact them, plus it's below zero wind chill here in the daytime, I don't know if they'd go out in that weather. I know they'd want to though.
Fred Phelps, Westboro's pastor, said soldiers' deaths are God's way of punishing America for its "acceptance of homosexuality."
He's just trying to piss everyone off, isn't he?
This is so bad, that it almost looks as if someone who was not a Christian at all, was directing this effort. Perhaps it is a heretic, but I'm not convinced of that.
All of a sudden there are some pretty strange groups coming out of the woodwork, each with a different slant on taking down our nation.
It almost looks as if there were a major conspiracy to do.
good i am glad they were there to help. what a shame the police cant stop these hateful people . how dare they intrude on a family in this time. have these morons have no shame? my sons are not old enough to be in this war but if they were & God forbid were killed... id be in jail because id flip on these evil shameless bunch of morons. i can not believe people would stoop to such levels. good for the bikers, i hope more join in all over the whole country and stop these horrid morons.
I meant that the brand of alleged Christianity he preaches is heretical - in both Jewish and Christian tradition, G-d hates sin, not sinners. I have no idea whether he believes the filth he spews, but it seems quite plausible that Phelps is running a false-flag operation, either for a politcal end or for personal gain.
BIG BUMP
Makes me think of Nobel- and Dynamite!
I really wouldn't characterize Phelps and his group as left wing or right wing. They're simply insane. His whole "church" is simply him and several members of his mutant family.
How does this church even stay open when there is such a fracture between the members?
Those lefties ain't no Baptists and that ain't no church!
That ain't a real church, its a fake church made up of this wacko family
The Phelps ARE the church. There are no other members that I know of.

The article really does lead a reader to believe that this is a bonafide church which has numerous members. Why can't the media for once lay out all the facts? Oh, that's right, because they are the media they can spin it any way they want.
Remember Mary Mapes definition, thats what its all about for them. Making the news how they want it.
There is also an extensive collection of information on Phelps at Wikipedia.
Some of the more interesting information:
Fred Phelps has engaged in domestic violence, assaulting his wife and beating his children with a mattock handle. The two children, who left the cult, Mark and Nate have residual signs of injuries consistent with such beatings.
Phelps was disbarred as a lawyer for engaging in seriously unethical and even criminal activities. This is really ironic, Phelps is too dishonest to be a lawyer, yet he is a minister!
Phelps may have even been involved in the death of Debbie Valgos. Read that as possibly being murder.
Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church appear to be engaging in a pattern of extortion.
Reading the accounts of the behavior of Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, one would come to the conclusion that Phelps is operating a continuing criminal enterprise.
