I am aware that there are very sick people out there but these words are tossed around too liberally - everybody is bi polar and/or has ADD these days.
Passenger gives details of airplane shooting in Miami
MIAMI We're learning more details about today's fatal shooting on a jetway leading from an American Airlines plane in Miami.
A passenger on the plane tells television station W-T-V-J she saw a man running "frantically" up the aisle before he was shot. Mary Gardner says a woman, apparently the man's wife, said the man suffered from bipolar disorder and hadn't taken his medication.
Gardner says four to five shots were fired.
A Homeland Security official says the passenger is dead.
Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Doyle says the man was confronted after indicating there was a bomb in a carry-on bag.
Doyle says the passenger was shot while apparently reaching into the bag.
As I see it, the only reason that the DUmmies get so passionate about this issue...is because they would be one of the people most likely to find themselves in this situation!!

Under the circumstances, it sounds like the marshalls did exactly what they are trained to do. It's unfortunate, but completely justified.

Shizophrenic people are even more dangerous as they often go off their meds. They think they are either not ill or are paranoid about the meds.
One of my friend's sons is schizophrenic. He stopped taking his meds and stabbed his girlfriend to death. He now has life in prison.
They really need supervision to keep them medicated.

This poor woman called into Dr. Laura yesterday, and her son was OCD, paranoid-schizophrenic and bi-polar.

I hope I got the 2nd hearing repeat with the "upstanding" citizens. These were mostly men, whereas the 1st one was almost all women.

This man doesn't sound like he was capable of "personal responsibility", any more than a 2 year old or a 90 year old with advanced Alzheimer's is. His wife, on the other hand, unless it can be shown that she also suffers from severe mental illness, is quite responsible for having let him board the plane when she knew he was off his meds, and not notified anyone of his condition.
Aren't ALL terrorists "mentally unstable"??
I think the universal word for "Prepare to meet your Maker" should be GLOCK. As in "Se hablo GLOCK?"
