CNN said that they were boarding for the flight to Orlando and that he and his wife were at the back in an argument while the other passengers were boarding.
First case when air marshals have shot and killed a passenger since 9/11.
The EASE with which PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY is dismissed out of hand for one's own actions is breathtaking. IMHO even IF there was a bomb the discussion WOULD BE still be one alluding to use of EXCESSIVE FORCE.
Raking these air marshalls over the coals will ONLY SERVE to make any future terrorist action MORE likely to succeed. I hope these AIR MARSHALLS get a medal!!

rat response will be: Suspend the FAM program until we can have sufficient hearings to highlight how W failed the country in this matter.

Just because mental illness diagnoses are often just flimsy "excuses" doesn't change the fact that serious mental illness is very real. My half-sister is schizophrenic, lives in makeshift tent near the Texas-Mexico borders, and somewhere along the line picked up the notion that she can't leave her post because she's guarding the border from invaders. She can no longer go into the post office to pick up letters from our father, because the metal detectors make the things that "they" put in her head go off. Her teeth are all gone from a combination of rotting out and being bashed by muggers and other psychos. Our laws are so insane that it's illegal to take her off the streets, put her in a hospital, and medicate her. God knows my father has tried.

Just now Shep said he was shot by more than one FAM- it sounds like this was a "clean kill".
I can't imagine a serious LEO sitting down to chat with someone (on meds, off meds, whatever) hollering they have a bomb, acting in a threatening way, and going into his bag...
