Didn't the FBI rule out terrorism on 9/11/2001, too? {snort, snort}

The reporters couldn't qualify for my job, on the other hand, since they'd actually have to be subject-matter qualified before they could be hired.

My company sometimes gets asked to do little informational segments on local TV. I have participated in two of them, and in both cases they were the most shallow and superficial junk I've ever been a part of, and I will never do it again.

If you really want to see what a joke reporters are, wait until they report on a subject you know something about.

Mythbusters did their tests in a swimming pool using small caliber and LARGE caliber ammo. All shattered upon impact with the water. I would post something from the Mythbusters site but I'm clueless when it comes to that kind of thing on here.

>> they [MythBusters did prove that you can dive down
>> 3 feet in water and the bullet will shatter.

Only for the supersonic rounds. A black-powder slug
survived but missed the target.

> Which busted one of the early scenes in Saving Private Ryan.

The MB show indicated to me that more investigation is
merited, and I'll bet the FBI observers reported that
back to HQ. In the SPR connection, assuming subsonic
rounds are still a threat, German rounds that had gone
subsonic in flight might still be fatal well underwater, and loss of aim is sort of irrelevant.

Hey, C babe.

Thats the way it normally went.
Some lone lunatic stood up and shouted: "I've got a bomb and I'm taking this plane to Cuba!"

Now its:
"Everyone please remain calm, we will be negotiating for your release shortly"

They are both terrorism.

Source tells CBS4: One Dead in MIA Plane Shooting

Dec 7, 2005 3:13 pm US/Eastern

MIAMI (CBS4 News) An American Airlines plane bound from Medellin, Colombia to Orlando with a stopover in Miami has been rocked by gunfire, apparently when two federal air marshals aboard the flight opened fire on someone a 'high ranking official with the joint terrorism task force' claims was someone they considered a threat to the aircraft.

The Department of Homeland Security, responsible for safety aboard US Aircraft, says the shooting took place when air marshals aboard the flight spotted someone they thought was ‘walking aggressively’. When agents attempted to stop the passenger as he exited the aircraft, they say the passenger reached into a bag, causing the officers to open fire.

Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Doyle says, as first reported by CBS4's Jennifer Santiago, that a passenger had indicated there was a bomb in a carry-on bag, after the plane had parked at the gate. The passenger was confronted by air marshals but ran off the plane. Doyle says a team of air marshals gave chase and ordered the passenger to get on the ground. The passenger complied, but then was shot while apparently reaching into a bag.

The flight was AA flight 924, a Boeing 757 bound from Medillin, Colombia. It was at gate D-42 when the shots were reported. The airport's Concourse D has reopened, but passengers who were on board the plane during the shooting are being held for questioning. That appears to be standard procedure after an incident of this type.

CBS4 Investigative Reporter Mike Kirsch says a source close to the investigation says he has been told one person on the aircraft is dead. This has not yet been officially confirmed.

A source tells CBS4's Jennifer Santiago reports a source tells her that this incident was not terrorism related, that a passenger aboard the plane announced that he had a bomb. Brian Andrews reports his sources say the incident happened very close to the front door of the Boeing 757, and got into a confrontation with two air marshals traveling aboard the plane. Shots were fired over concern for the safety aboard the plane, Brian's sources say.

In an events such as this, air marshals consider everyone on board the plane a suspect, a precaution because they don't know for sure how many people are involved.

There has been no indication yet when the passengers aboard the flight will be allowed to continue their trip to Orlando. Other planes are being allowed to land and take off at the airport, which had been closed briefly while the incident unfolded.

I busted that myth years ago with a little bit of physics and math. The difference between cabin pressure and the exterior pressure, multiplied by the surface area of the bullet hole, would only produce a few pounds of force, not nearly enough to have everything sucked out. The amount of air escaping would be so small, it wouldn't even cause a breeze. In fact, you could plug it up with the palm of your hand with no problem, other than perhaps the cold.

So the some lady got a phone call on the plane and ran off?

And then her husband went after her and said he had a bomb?

Is that the story so far?

Any word on what this guy looked like? Was he speaking English?

The reporters had a chance to drill Mary Gardner before she terminated her cell call, and it seems that the lady actually ended up running after her husband (suspect).

The suspect was shot after reading into a bag.

The suspect and his wife were white and spoke English, according to Mary Gardner.

[Again, let me stress that these reports are preliminary, and eye witness accounts are distorted due to the high emotions and other factors.]

One of the air marshalls should have phoned for the victim's medical records before firing a shot. Harry Reid will be on this within the hour. Then he'll say it's all Bush's fault.
