How hard is it for a large retailer to figure out that Christmas is December 25th, and that Hannukah frequently falls on the same date. There is plenty of room for them to have tasteful signs offering recognition of these important holidays. Heck, hang up a couple of Kwanzaa banners, too. Don't want to miss picking their pockets either.

Ah, but the liberals will sniff, "all this political correctness is making the stores change". Don't believe me? It's happening right now in Roanoke Virginia, where Baptist minister Mayor Nelson Harris has had to cowtow to the great unwashed, and has now renamed Roanoke's "Holiday Tree", (Roanoke is just oh so diverse, you see) Roanoke's "Christmas Tree".

Reverend Mayor Harris is deeply saddened, since this just flies in the face of diversity. When the great Roanoke Tree crisis first happened, Harris swore he would not change the name, because he wanted everyone to feel included in the festivities. The other minister on Roanoke City Council, Sherman Lea (also a Baptist Democrat) lobbied in favor of renaming the offending conifer to reflect its reason for existence. Reverend Lea is not ashamed of Christmas.

My wife would call me a scrooge but I really think retailers SHOULD replace Holiday with Christmas. Maybe then we can all celebrate what Christmas really is without going broke in the process. I say let's leave these businesses alone and let it play out.

...Sears also keeps the soldiers/reserves who are on active duty remain "on the job status" while they're serving...not all retailers do this...The soldiers are guaranteed their jobs when they return after their tour of duty.

BTW, just for giggles, here's a look see at Target's "Diversity Calendar" from Target's web site (under Diversity). Check out December. Also, I don't see any Merry Christmas or even Happy Holidays on their web site.
