Sears Puts 'Merry Christmas' Signs in Its Stores
Sears has notified the American Family Association (AFA) that "Merry Christmas signs have been shipped and are now on display in all its stores. In addition, the retailer notified AFA that the "Christmas" greeting has also been posted on the Sears.com Web site.
Sears was one of the companies identified by AFA as banning "Christmas" in its in-store promotions and retail advertising.
A list of companies banning Christmas and their responses can be found at www.afa.net.
According to AFA, other companies are also making changes to include "Christmas" in their promotions and advertising.
Lowes notified AFA at the end of November that its "Holiday Trees" in-store promotion had been renamed "Christmas Trees." Walgreens said that it was too late to change printed material this year, but that things would be different next year. AFA says Target, which AFA is boycotting, has stated that it did not intend to ban "Christmas" and it might begin using "Christmas" in TV commercials later this year.
"Corporate America is getting the word from the grassroots," said AFA Chairman Donald W. Wildmon. "We expect a positive response from other companies in the next few days.

Politically correct push-back. I love it! When PC becomes a serious liability, the corporate world will drop it like a hot potato.

How hard is it for a large retailer to figure out that Christmas is December 25th, and that Hannukah frequently falls on the same date. There is plenty of room for them to have tasteful signs offering recognition of these important holidays. Heck, hang up a couple of Kwanzaa banners, too. Don't want to miss picking their pockets either.
Tis the season....

There are exceptions to the liberal atheist attitude.
In Hawaii last week I saw a large Crech scene in front of a government social center.
Imagine that.

Ah, but the liberals will sniff, "all this political correctness is making the stores change". Don't believe me? It's happening right now in Roanoke Virginia, where Baptist minister Mayor Nelson Harris has had to cowtow to the great unwashed, and has now renamed Roanoke's "Holiday Tree", (Roanoke is just oh so diverse, you see) Roanoke's "Christmas Tree".
Reverend Mayor Harris is deeply saddened, since this just flies in the face of diversity. When the great Roanoke Tree crisis first happened, Harris swore he would not change the name, because he wanted everyone to feel included in the festivities. The other minister on Roanoke City Council, Sherman Lea (also a Baptist Democrat) lobbied in favor of renaming the offending conifer to reflect its reason for existence. Reverend Lea is not ashamed of Christmas.

My wife would call me a scrooge but I really think retailers SHOULD replace Holiday with Christmas. Maybe then we can all celebrate what Christmas really is without going broke in the process. I say let's leave these businesses alone and let it play out.

...Sears also keeps the soldiers/reserves who are on active duty remain "on the job status" while they're serving...not all retailers do this...The soldiers are guaranteed their jobs when they return after their tour of duty.

And just think of the people on here who said,
- Boycotts don't work.
- Stores don't care if they nix the Christmas name.
Sounds like a few people right here on FR just had crow served as a main course, dessert and snack all in one.

Just sent em an e-mail thanking them and telling them we'll buy whatever we can from THEM.

Good for Sears - will definitely support them with my shopping dollars.
BTW, just for giggles, here's a look see at Target's "Diversity Calendar" from Target's web site (under Diversity). Check out December. Also, I don't see any Merry Christmas or even Happy Holidays on their web site.

Wow, good news!! God might not survive if he's kicked out of another department store. I mean he already lacks government support, support from Target, even the Bushes used Happy Holidays. I just don't know how God manages to soldier on.
