BAGHDAD, Iraq - Al-Qaida's second-ranking figure called on Iraqi insurgent groups to unite and claimed President Bush is deceiving the American people about successes against Islamic militancy, according to a videotape broadcast Wednesday.

Ayman al-Zawahri, in a broadcast carried on the Arab television network Al-Jazeera, urged Iraqi Arabs, Kurds and Turkomen "whose hands were not tainted by Americans" should come together to fill "the gap that will be left by the Americans departure" from Iraq.

"I call all mujahedeen groups to unite and work closely to achieve the coming victory" in Iraq, he said.

Al-Qaida's second-ranking figure... claimed President Bush is deceiving the American people about successes against Islamic militancy, according to a videotape broadcast Wednesday.

What makes them different from anyone in the Democrat party?

"...come together to fill "the gap that will be left by the Americans departure" from Iraq."

He must be referring to the Murtha-Pelosi-Kerry gap..

If the Republicans don't pick this up and shove it down the Democrats throat, I will freakin' scream.

Between this and the female bombers the ranks must be really starting to thin out...

I ran into a Soldier at the cigar store the other day that just got back. He had 14 confirmed kills. I paid for his cigars.

And, once they unite, let's just drop a great, big MOAB in the middle of them...problem solved!

....and claimed President Bush is deceiving the American people about successes against Islamic militancy...

Can anyone name one strategic goal the jihad has achieved?

Their plan was for 9-11 to precipitate our venture into Afghanistan, where they were to defeat us as they believed they had defeated the Russians. We accepted the invitation, but from there nothing has gone as planned for the jihad. They also never envisioned we would go into Iraq.

Did the "Arab street" rise up? No. Did the jihad expel the Great Satan from Iraq? By the time they do, it will be too late, and they will have to kill fellow Muslims and Arabs, and to what end?

Did the jihad succeed in preventing the vote for an interim government? Did it stop the vote for a constitution? Will it stop the Dec 15 vote on a permanent government? They haven't even been able to alter the TIMETABLE for these events.

One could make the case that the only strategic goal which has been achieved is that of enlisting half of America on the side of the jihad, but even that victory is going for naught because the cowboy dude has three more years.

Meanwhile, the appointed head of the Iraqi effort has succeeded only in getting 200,000 Jordanians to march against......TERROR.... the formless foe which supposedly couldn't BE defeated.

Oh yeah, Bush is DECEIVING us, all right.

And it is clear that Zawahiri is listening to the statements made by Democratic cut and runners.

They are just delaying the US victory and costing more lives. Are they so dumb or so full of hate for Bush that they can not see that?

Hitler offered words of encouragement and shook the hands of the last remnants of his army even though Soviet troops were, at that moment, pushing towards him in Berlin.

al-Zawahri cannot afford to drop his pretense that the war is going badly, very badly, for him and the rest of the jihadis, or the jig would be up.

They see the delay and the cost, it is their goal.

To humiliate the President and the US military into never using force again.

They only love us when we are dying, as on 9/11, as soon as we fight back, hate ensues.

America destroying itself from within? Perhaps not achieved, but well on its way, thanks to Howard Dean and the Defeaticrats.

Good luck with that. The vacuum that's going to be left by the U.S. military drawdown is going to be filled by the American trained and equipped Iraqi security forces. The Iraqis are fighting for survival, and won't feel constrained to play nice like we do.

You nailed it right on the head.

They don't care about victory. Even if the bloodshed in Iraq ended today, it wouldn't matter to the liberals. They will still blast us for having secret CIA prisons, for not-so-secret GTMO, for greedy contractors in Iraq, for the puppet government, and on and on and on. Liberals don't even care if we are victorious in Iraq because they don't think Iraq is important.

Al Jazeera is now reporting that they "accidentally" replayed a tape from September.

This is NOT a new tape, just an OLD tape they dug up and put out again.
