McCain Tops Clinton in Quinnipiac Poll

They both voted for the war in Iraq. Both have angered key wings of their own political parties and both seem to be overhyped "media darlings.”

So, perhaps it’s no surprise that a Quinnipiac University poll has Senators John McCain (R-Ariz) and Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) in a statistical tie for the 2008 presidency with a large disclaimer – if the election were held today.

In a head-to-head contest, McCain tops Clinton 44-40 percent, according to the poll.

The telephone poll of 1,230 voters surveyed from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, which had a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points, found McCain with 44 percent of the vote and Clinton with 40 percent - a statistical dead heat.

Though neither has declared his or her respective candidacy for the White House, both McCain and Clinton have long been rumored as among the frontrunners in their respective parties.

My old left boot would top Hillary Clinton in some polls (probably also take a couple of blue states from her to, in a national election).

Hillary is a joke, and McCain ain't going to get past the primaries anyway.

Another media driven poll to push the McCain/Hillary match-up...FORGET IT! McCAin is NOT going to be the Republican nominee and I'd be willing to bet that Hillary won't make it either if Richardson runs!

If it ends up being McCain vs. Hillary... I'll take McCain any day. Hillary choosing 2 or 3 SC justices would be terrible...

This is truly a matchup in 2008 that signals the end of time(only semi-sarcastic).

The only way a hillary -vs- mccain comparison has any relevance is if McCain crosses over and runs against her in the Democrat primary.

Hillary may yet win the Dem primary but Ralph Nader has a better shot at winning the GOP primary than McCain.

I still think Hillary will get the Dem nomination- not McCain. She has slightly more supporters in the Dem party heirarchy and media than he does.

Of course neither one will ever get the GOP nomination...
