Chuck Schumer: U.S. 'Imposing' Elections on Iraq
Newsmax ^ | December 5 2005

Sen. Charles Schumer is predicting failure for Iraq's democratically-elected government, complaining that the vote next week to determine the country's new parliament is being "imposed" on the Iraqi people by the U.S.

"There will be no government in Iraq the way they're trying to structure it now," the New York Democrat told WABC-TV's "Behind the News" on Sunday. "They're going to have these elections but that's sort of being imposed on them."

Schumer questioned the legitimacy of the Iraqi vote despite sky-high turnouts for the country's January and October elections, which saw a higher percentage of voter participation than in U.S. elections.

When will Republicans start making the point that these types of comments are anti american, aid the enemy and demoralize the troops, and are a call for US defeat. This is such a slam dunk for the Pubs that I can't believe they aren't capitalizing on this. O-wait, yes I can. Gutless wonders.

Dem Slogan for '06

Bring back Saddam!

The Iraqi people enjoyed being raped, pillaged, with limbs severed!

That's all I can deduce from the Dem's position.

We have one national Party saving a few like Leiberman that enjoy being traitors to the flag and humanity itself by joining with Osama and saddam. I want the hanging gallows re-instated.

Actually, what we're doing there (for Chuckie's edification) is forcing them to accept what passes in America for democracy.

Our nation has proven over these 270 years that you can take an idea, like our founding fathers had, and jump up and down on it to make it conform to what our elected congresshogs want it to be.

Of course, if our founding fathers would take a look at what's been done to that idea they'd have a fit.

They would wonder at what we have allowed our elected political class to do to us.

Wow, what a scumbag! Iraq is to be the new enemy because it is a pro-American democracy. Actually, this is not a new approach for the American left.

"They're going to have these elections but that's sort of being imposed on them."

I suppose he would like to bring back Saddam so they can have his kind of "free" elections.

We'll have to go digging in one of those mass graves to find his last opposition party.

Schumer does not want Democracy to flourish in Iraq anymore than he wants Democracy to flourish in the United States.

Well, they do love Cuba and don't think too highly of people risking their lives to escape. Witness Elian's fate.

Repressive communist regime hostile to America- Good

Democracy in the heart of the M.E. open to America- Bad.

"Sen. Charles Schumer is predicting failure for Iraq's democratically-elected government, complaining that the vote next week to determine the country's new parliament is being "imposed" on the Iraqi people by the U.S."

Translation:

If the elections go well in Iraq, it won't look good for the Democrats here in the United States. We (the Democrats) have been saying all along that Bush lied and that the War wasn't necessary. We will look like fools. So, we don't want the U.S. to win the War. Nor do we want the Iraqi people to be free because it will make us look bad.

Kind of a slap in the face to the Japanese and Germans. I wonder when our troops will be leaving Japan and Germany?

All this means is that no matter how successful the elections are, he's going to denounce them as a failure. BTW, has he gotten around to denouncing the Venezuela elections as a fraud? They only had 25% turn out and the opposition withdrew from the race because of corruption. If Schumer places the bar that low then he has no room to criticize the Iraqi elections.

Only a maroon like Chucky Shooooomer would find democracy intrusive and unappealing to a downtrodden mass. Isn't it amazing that a first-class goof like Schoooooooomer gets re-elected by anyone with an IQ over 30?

Remember, according to Chucky, democracy has to be forced on the citizenry. It's never fought for. It never comes after a sacrifice. Perhaps Chucky should read American History 101 and stop showing his collosal stupidity.

What a jerk!
