Show me where on this thread I said that checking an ID will result in stopping a terrorist act.
This is something you created out of your mind. I have written repeatedly that there appear here to be 2 schools of thought. Do Nothing, because it intrudes upon (sometimes perceived) rights of individuals, or do what we can that is reasonable on a case by case basis, ie there is a credible threat of a bomb on a bus and ID's are asked for and backpacks are checked, as part of dealing with the threat. etc. You've moved to far to the extreme on this. ID's are not the solution. They can be part of the solution. Tour the whitehouse, you will get the full treatment regardless of what you look like. Are you against this as well? What about a tour of a nuclear facility, transportation to a secured military installation or other facility. You are against it all? No ID's in any case imaginable by mankind?
You are making stuff up now. There was no credible threat. They check IDs every day at the DFC on the busses. They are not looking for someone, nor are they checking the IDs against an access list or a watch list. They simply demand an ID, glance at it, then return it.
Do you believe there is a 4th Amendment and that it means something or is it too a "nullity"?
Then what's the point? You kept bringing "terrorism" up as a justification for checking IDs, now you say it's not for preventing terrorism. So what's it for then?
