One of the great 180 degree turns in my lifetime. I really admire the guy, and I hope he keeps up the good fight.
"The Democratic Party is becoming the tool of an extreme domestic leftist insurgency led by the Michael Moores and the Cindy Sheehans and other neoreactionary, neoisolationist Americans."
He cuts right to the chase, doesn't he?
"...The United Nations marginalized itself..."
Way to go Ron. Some democrats get it.
I didn't know he rolled on the liberals. I did know, however, that he was very articulate, and was not part of the hard left. Interesting.
I agree with you that Silver is brave, especially considering the milleu he must still move in. For some reason he's always creeped me out to a degree (maybe it's been some of the characters he's portrayed, I don't know) but I deeply appreciate his stance on defending this country. And he's spot-on about the UN.
Ron Silver understands the inherent danger of not only the third world dictators that are forever wanting something for nothing (from the U.S. thru the U.N.) but more importantly, the obvious threat from the Islamfascists currently wreaking havoc in the world. He's letting his gut instincts tell him the truth rather than worry about being popular with the Hollywood elite lefties who hide behind gated communities and live in dream worlds you couldn't imagine.
I keep waiting for a bunch of them to leave the U.S.(Sarandon, Robbins, Steisand, etc.) now that George Bush was elected a second time. Maybe they'll go to the workers paradise (former Soviet Union or modern day China) or a nice little Muslim community some where in the Middle East or south asia that would enjoy their liberated views on sex, politics and religion?
He nailed it!
***....[my] new documentary, "Broken Promises: The United Nations at 60," which portrays the U.N. as the height of incompetence. If you and I put a flag outside our door and we called ourselves a country, we would have a seat at the table. ***
HEH, HEH, HEH!
I think people in Hollywood are not thrilled with me. I have no direct evidence that a crime has been committed against me. At best I can only indict on perjury and obstruction of employment.
LOL
He is too funny, as is his "paucity of imagination" line. Me thinks he should write Hollywood Land scripts instead of the nonsense that is being put forth.
Good for Ron Silver. Obviously, an intelligent, patriotic man who will be an asset to the Republican Party. I just wish there were more like Ron Silver in Hollywood.
Would that his braveness filled his heart with respect for the unborn.
His Green tilt is no harm-no foul because he must compartmentalize & subordinate that within the GOP framework if that's where he wants to add his voice.
But if he seeks a more active role in the GOP, he must come around on abortion (if he wants more than a nasty namecheck article from the MSM once a year). Sure, the Slimes does everything but call him a scumbag in this interview -- maybe that's worth FReep cred, and Silver's erudition permits him to use the interview to his own ends, but he still needs a change of heart on abortion.
The party does not need another RINO New Yawker like Bloomberg or Giuliani (who I respect in every way but his pro-abort attitudes) at this point.
Brave is the word, all right. The Hollywood Left and the NY Left who control most of entertainment, have shunned this multi-talented actor. God bless him, and let's hope when Bruce Willis makes a movie, he thinks of Ron Silver.
Ron Silver is a Liberal I have immense respect for.
Even when we disagree, he makes me think.
If he, Lieberman, Zell Miller, Ed Koch, and Christopher Hitchens controlled the different branches of the Party the Republican Party wouldn't have time to 'find itself' after their misteps this year. They'd be toast.
Instead we have Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, Reid, Daschle, Pelosi, Schumer..etc...is it any wonder the Dems are the minority party? The men/women of principles, courage, and intelligence are the ones the Party has thrown overboard.
Silver on Bush---I see him once a year when I go down to Washington for the Kennedy Center honors. We kibbitz. I don't know if he calls it kibbitzing, but I call it kibbitzing. He is really a likable guy. At one point he said: "You're a good man, Ronnie. It is nice to see you." And I was kidding around, so I said, "Mr. President, only my mother calls me Ronnie." And he looks me in the eye and says, "You're a good man, Ronnie."---
LOL!
