Ron Silver
...Indeed, you're a former liberal Democrat who became a Bush convert only recently. What do you have against the Democrats?
The Democratic Party is becoming the tool of an extreme domestic leftist insurgency led by the Michael Moores and the Cindy Sheehans and other neoreactionary, neoisolationist Americans.
...[my] new documentary, "Broken Promises: The United Nations at 60," which portrays the U.N. as the height of incompetence. If you and I put a flag outside our door and we called ourselves a country, we would have a seat at the table.
Is that some sort of cheap shot at third-world countries?
I think that the countries that are democracies need to form a caucus and a coalition to make sure it is not controlled by blocs of authoritarian regimes that are permanently hostile to the United States.
One reason they are hostile is that they feel the Bush administration has marginalized the United Nations.
The United Nations marginalized itself...

FYI.
One of the great 180 degree turns in my lifetime. I really admire the guy, and I hope he keeps up the good fight.
"The Democratic Party is becoming the tool of an extreme domestic leftist insurgency led by the Michael Moores and the Cindy Sheehans and other neoreactionary, neoisolationist Americans."
He cuts right to the chase, doesn't he?
"...The United Nations marginalized itself..."
Way to go Ron. Some democrats get it.
I just love it that he is willing to call the shots the way he sees it -- even though he spent his life in another political party. As an independent, people like him just make my day.
Any way to clone him?
Yes, he does! :)
I didn't know he rolled on the liberals. I did know, however, that he was very articulate, and was not part of the hard left. Interesting.
I think he spoke at the GOP National Convention.
I agree with you that Silver is brave, especially considering the milleu he must still move in. For some reason he's always creeped me out to a degree (maybe it's been some of the characters he's portrayed, I don't know) but I deeply appreciate his stance on defending this country. And he's spot-on about the UN.
Ron Silver understands the inherent danger of not only the third world dictators that are forever wanting something for nothing (from the U.S. thru the U.N.) but more importantly, the obvious threat from the Islamfascists currently wreaking havoc in the world. He's letting his gut instincts tell him the truth rather than worry about being popular with the Hollywood elite lefties who hide behind gated communities and live in dream worlds you couldn't imagine.
I keep waiting for a bunch of them to leave the U.S.(Sarandon, Robbins, Steisand, etc.) now that George Bush was elected a second time. Maybe they'll go to the workers paradise (former Soviet Union or modern day China) or a nice little Muslim community some where in the Middle East or south asia that would enjoy their liberated views on sex, politics and religion?
He nailed it!
Like I said, he always struck me as a highly intelligent guy who had not seen the light. I will add Silver to the Tammy Bruce Convert file. Thanks for the info.
Welcome to the forum. Hope to see many more posts in the future.
Did you miss the entire 2004 election?
FGS, he was AT the Republican Convention and spoke!
