why is ACLU hated among most Americans?

Posted on 12/04/2005 6:22:13 AM PST by Khashayar

It has been my question since I became a member on FR.

Why do conservatives in the US hate/disagree with/dislike the ACLU

Are they not a group to protect civil liberties of the American society?

I mean the very values that America's founding fathers dreamed of.

Any how, it is amazing for me why most people in the states disagree with whatever ACLU does.

Thanks for attention!

Do you have communist party in the US?

Yes, but it was never the threat that the ACLU was and I lived through the 1950s and the McCarthy era. I remember it well. Any organization or party can operate in the United States and it should be protected of its rights just like any other group that I might agree with. I would protect the right of the ACLU to exist but I vehemently disagree with their aims. They pretend to be for the rights of the common man. They are, however, for collectivism and the destruction of our nation as we know it. They are a malignant cancer to operates under the radar. They are not what they claim to be. The Communist Party on the other hand was open about its goals and no one could be enticed to what they believe in as the ACLU which is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Is there any book to get to know more about the values your founded fathers stood for?

Your best course is to read what the founders wrote themselves

Read "The Federalist Papers", a series of articles written by the people who wrote the Constitution (primarily James Madison, with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay). They lay out their reasoning for why they wrote the Constitution the way they did.

Then read "The Anti-Federalist Papers" , where others lay out their objections to parts of the Constitution. Their objections lead to the provisions of the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution, called the "Bill of Rights"

Do they have any representatives in the Senate or Congress?!

The way the Constitution works, to become a Senator or Congressman, you must win a majority of votes in a state or congressional district, and this is hard to do for a party that is well outside the mainstream.

Currently, only one person who has openly declared himself a Socialist (Bernie Sanders, Independent from Vermont) has ever won election to Congress, although there are several in the Democrat party who are effectively Communist

You have a secular society!

We have a secular government governing a religious society

The federal government is supposed to stay neutral in matters of religion. The First Amendment prohibits the government from using tax money to support any particular religion ("Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion", where an "established church" is a church that is supported by tax money, like the "Church of England" in the UK, or Sunni Islam in Saudi Arabia and Shiite Islam in Iran).

The government is also prohibited from interfering in "the free exercise thereof" (meaning the government may not forbid people from practicing their religion)

American society is very much Christian. We just do not have religious police making sure you go to church

It's because the ACLU most often takes a basic tenet of the American ethos like 'Freedom of Religion' and transmogrifies it into 'Freedom from Religion'.

Removing the Ten Commandments from a court is more than eliminating what has become a secular shorthand for universal law. Such actions are a perversion and repudiation of the ethos of Western civilization that produced the egalitarian society that the ACLU proclaims to defend.

"You have a secular society!"

It hasn't always been that way.

"Most Americans aren't pedophiles..."

However, those that are are becoming more comfortable with it, and less afraid of legal consequences; and others are exploring it as an "alternative lifestyle," thanks to the ACLU...well, that and gutless prosecutors.

Khashayar,
Had it not been for your established membership and interesting web page I would have thought that such a question could only be put forth by a troll.
Thanks for the information on your website and may you and your fellow Persians get the peace and respect your deserve.
BTW, I've long wanted a military surplus Persian mauser as they are very distinctive and of excellent quality.
Best,
mc

It's simply because we cannot abide and despise a Commie legal outfit like the ACLU which is obviously dedicated to the destruction of our laws and nation. Any other questions?

short answer: the ACLU was communist/socialist from its inception, and has ever been hostile to the fundamental public moral code of this nation and culture.

check my Profile page for links to information concerning the ACLU refuting its supposed sociopolitical neutrality.

Speaking generally, there are several consistent factors which bolster cultural/national cohesion:

1. Common public language
2. Common public moral tradition (including religion, also including cultural ethos and mythology)
3. Common public economic basis and/or system
4. Common public laws and enforcement
5. Common public cultural identity

Now, ask yourself: Does the ACLU support or subvert these?

LMAO!

I knew this topic is sensitive!

Honestly, I wish we could have some sort of Civil Liberties Protecting Organization in countries like Iran to prevent stupid Mullahs/Dictators from harassing oppressed people.

But seems that your ACLU is really bad and in a country like the US where individual rights are protected by such a great constitution, existence of ACLU is ridiculous.

99% of the day to day activity of the ACLU is dedicated to pushing the secularist envelope against everything held dear as traditional in American Life. They operate under special non-laws of legitimated political terrorism. They are AT BEST the most obnoxious force on the American scene today, AT WORST they are treacherous hit-men who do through the courts what most other terrorists do with a bullet or a sword. Someday there will be a tipping point and all hell will rain down on them. I hope it is soon/

Q: "Why is ACLU hated among most Americans?"

A. Because the ACLU is a communist front organization staffed primarily by athiest, anti-capitalist schemers and crooks, and their efforts today (naturally) center around getting Democrats elected to office.

The long-ago-dismissed propaganda about the ACLU "protecting civil rights" is belied every day. One example that comes quickly to mind is the ACLU's selective enforcement efforts in 1st Amendment cases. The first 16 words of the Bill of Rights (and of the 1st Amendment) are:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;...."

The ACLU has absolutely no use for the last six of those sixteen words, and in fact vigorously acts against them in 1st Amendment cases the organization pursues.

I hope that this helps you to understand why most decent, civilized people across America despise the ACLU, which is a thoroughly anti-American organization.

once or twice in my lifetime the ACLU has sided with the NRA

smokescreen, in my cynical opinion.
