Having been to Israel earlier this year for the first time I would say that what is written here is correct. I was just as amazed as the writer with the state of Israel and my wife and I intend to go back.

You are still more alert than most. Context indicates that an extra negative is in the sentence.

It should read, "And I do not believe that anyone but a committed anti-Semite will deny that Israel is a democracy."

Despite the fact that Tashbih Sayyed has been writing and publishing articles like this for years, publishes Zionist Jewish writers as well, frequently alerts Christians and Jews to radical Islamists participating in ecumenical efforts under false pretenses, and etc... No, there is. Sayyed is an older guy and sometimes slips in his grammar a bit. (I have the impression that he does all the editing for his publications himself.)

What is your honest view of the level of discrimination vis a vis Arabs living in Israel. The article suggests there is none. Do you agree? As I understand it, except for the Druze, Muslin Arabs cannot serve in the Israeli armed forces, which is an important career path in Israel, just as in Switzerland.

I imagine there is discrimination in Israel as there is everywhere. Among different ethnic Jews too.

The criticism of Israel that is untrue involves State sanctioned discrimination, and that is to what the author refers.

I was in Israel at the height off the terrorism in recent years and on one trip I noticed that the part of street signs that are in Arabic in some neighborhoods had been defaced. On a trip about ten months later, I was surprised to see that the signs had been repaired. Everything seemed to be falling apart but they repaired where Arabic was defaced in Jewish, these were Jewish, neighborhoods.

Moslems can serve, they are just not drafted. Bedouins often serve.

Israel seems to be a subject that interests you. May I suggest you visit there. Good, bad or indifferent, nothing will give you a better sense.
