SAN FRANCISCO -- The California state Supreme Court has declined to block the execution of a co-founder of the Crips gang, Stanley "Tookie" Williams, set for Dec. 13.
It's now up to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to decide whether to spare Williams, who was convicted of killing four people, by commuting his sentence to life in prison without parole.
The governor has a clemency petition in hand and plans a hearing on the matter.
Before the high court ruling, Schwarzenegger told reporters he wants to hear from both prosecutors and defense attorneys before making his decision because "a life is at stake."
The governor said he's gotten lots of mail, e-mail and phone calls on the clemency question and is determined to make the right decision.
Williams' attorneys had told the justices the case was marred by shoddy forensic testing and other errors.
Buh bye, Tookie.

I'd like to see Tookie die; in fact, if they'd let me, I'd throw the switch myself.
However, this IS Kah-leeee-forn-ya we're talking about here... I really don't care what that FUBAR state does to hasten its own demise.
Simple solution that works for all parties. Declare the strip of coastland from Los Angeles to San Francisco a new state, would probably take from the rest of California no more than say, 18-20 electoral votes.. The remaining 34-36 electoral votes would be a solid red state (still the most electoral votes of any one state IIRC). Then bar state to state campaign contributions (out of state donors) and the remaining problem public officials would quickly be out (Sanchez) in the next election (hopefully B-1 Bob is up for another run). Then the new state can have its socialist atheist baby killing paradise. Create a new Judicial Circiut and have the 9th Circus strictly cover that new state, and the new court cover the rest of the 9th Circuit's area...

If ever there was someone the death penality was made for this puke is the candidate.
If you are aware of his previous actions and behavior he should be put out of our collective misery.
The California high court may not block Tookie's execution but I have a feeling that Arnold will by granting clemency.
When he does there is nothing preventing the next Governor from pardoning him and releaseing him from prison. Then his lawyers will sue the State for wrongful imprisonment.

Arnold should not interfere and I hope that he doesn't but I have a feeling that he will.
Some Tookie supporters are warning of "civil unrest" should tookie be executed. I say "buy lots of ammo today"
