I love being a conservative. We believe in individual liberty, limited government, capitalism, the rule of law, faith, a color-blind society and national security. We support school choice, enterprise zones, tax cuts, welfare reform, political speech, homeowner rights and the war on terrorism. And at our core we embrace and celebrate the most magnificent governing document ever ratified by any nation -- the U.S. Constitution. Along with the Declaration of Independence, our God-given natural right to be free, it is the foundation on which our government is built and has enabled us to flourish as a people.

Showing just how out of touch with reality MSM and the Democrats really are, and how desparate MSM and their Democrat partners are to derail GW Bush's efforts to bring freedom and democracy to Iraq, something until now they have never known.

It is truely despicable how far MSM and their political pals in the Democrat party will go to undermine this nation, reaching so low that they willingly support murderous dictators like Saddam Hussain and fundamentalist movements like Al qaida; they are so willing to sacrifice the lives and freedom of 20 million people in Iraq just so they can score cheap political points at any cost against the Bush administration.

"You will of course note that some hot button issues are missing. Well guess what, I am by most standards pro-choice, save your arguments. On top of that I couldn’t give two bottles of jack if two or 3 or 5 of anybody or anything got married while being officiated by their pet poodle. I am also a militant atheist who doesn’t give THREE bottles of jack what you believe in and would never dream of telling you what to believe about anything, that said, keep ID out of my face, thanks. I am not going to change in this regard and that isn’t the reason why I posted this."

The devil's always in the details, isn't it?

I agree with your points. I think the hope of the world is education and perhaps a religious revival.

I view pro choice as this: the act of abortion is a horrible and painful act that I don't wish any person or any family to have to deal with. However it's not a modern day holocaust and I can't make that a litmus test for anything from elected officials to judges.

What, do you just want us to blindly agree with you?

I'd make my top priorities these:

1. National security. This means fighting the war on terror, protecting our borders, and deporting anyone who doesn't belong here. Note to the left - that means deport them even if they are voting for you. Note to the right - that means deport them even if they are working cheaply in your factory or cleaning your house or babysitting your kids. Note to those who complain about the cost - We'll more than make up the cost in reduced health care fees, reduced strain on the court and prison systems, fuller employment for citizens and those here legally.

2. Tax reform. Abolish the IRS. Abolish income tax and estate tax, and corporate taxes. This will also help a great deal with #1 by closing many of the loopholes for terrorist money laundering. It will also help with #3 by keeping the likes of Hillary from using the IRS to blackmail enemies and coerce on "friends".

3. Clean house in the justice system. It should provide justice for ALL of us. Justice means sending criminals to jail. It does NOT mean that if the criminal is rich and can afford a pricey lawyer that he gets off. It does not mean that the rich get to "buy" laws by buying legislators. It does not mean that if you commit murder, but you can manage to find a case where another murderer got a lighter sentence that you should get a lighter sentence, too. When the citizenry no longer has faith that it will be protected by the law, productivity and security decrease. Fixing the justice system will also help with #1.

I'm curious exactly what you mean by "militant" atheism? I too am an atheist, well, agnostic at least but there is nothing militant about it. I respect each person's right to believe as they would. I'm not offended by others expression of religion (unless it's of a "militant" variety or their beliefs are harmful to me or to society in some way). I celebrate Christmas out of tradition and in honor of my christian upbringing and family. I can say Merry Christmas without flinching - it just doesn't have the same meaning for me as I imagine it does for most christians.

I have no problem with ID - if they want to teach it in schools, I have no problem with it as long as it's a matter of choice and both sides are presented.

Militant atheists piss me off - like the ones trying to tear down the cross on Mt. Soledad here in San Diego - if it offends you, don't freaking go there or look at it!

But you don't really sound like one of those so why "militant"?

4: Greater support for Israel. Forget the palestinian state BS. Israel needs not only our full support but must be allowed to do what must be done to protect their people. This also includes giving them the green light to attack Iran.

5: A more independant foreign policy. We should not be waiting for the aproval of the UN or our 'allies' to take actions vital toour national security. While we wait for world approval Iran is busy making a nuclear bomb.

...sounds to me that you are more libertarian that conservative; if so, welcome to the camp. I would pick two issues with you:
1. The palpable evidence of God (pointing out the fact that He is very much a laissez faire diety, leaving it to us to screw up our lives...rarely interferring in the wake of hardships, hurricanes, or human hurt).
2. Some sort of campaign finance reform is needed to return the American political process to democracy (currently, the electorate is voting for the candidate who can raise the most money through special interests or who is independently wealthy.)
