Rocket jet plot is foiled | ||||||

By RICHARD WHITEA SUSPECTED terrorist plot to stage a Christmas murder blitz in Britain was smashed yesterday by police and MI5. A 28-year-old Asian man was snared as he allegedly tried to buy a rocket launcher near the M25 South Mimms services. It is feared he planned to blast a holiday flight at a major UK airport. The British-born Muslim was kept under surveillance for weeks by Met chief Sir Ian Blairs anti-terror cops and MI5 agents. The suspect, believed to have been in contact with al-Qaeda sympathisers, was ordered to hit the ground by Scotland Yards elite CO19 firearms unit.
No shots were fired as he was arrested by anti-terrorist branch officers. It is thought he was carrying thousands of pounds in cash. In a coordinated operation, anti-terror detectives then swooped on two addresses in Waltham Forest and Newham, East London. The suspect was being questioned last night at Londons high security Paddington Green police station. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: A man was arrested in a joint operation in connection with an inquiry into the suspected attempted procurement of weapons linked to terrorism. |
This happens at routine traffic stops in this country.
Youre right, that doesnt happen here. But Im pretty certain there was plenty of shouting going on in this case.
Has any link been found between the 7/7 and 7/21 bombers? As I understand it the short answer is 'no'. The thinking is of independent cells that are unaware of each other. I have heard conflicting stories about the fingerprint of the explosives used in each attack. Clearly in the background.... strings are being pulled but mapping that is very difficult.
My toughts too. It means the command and control infrastructure is very likely to be still out there. Probably long scattered by now but sooner or later, likely to rear its ugly head again.
I have to give Brit intel where credit is due tho... hopfully, they are in another discreet "watch and learn" phase of the counter terror operations.
Well done gentlemen! Excellent job!
Congrats, my friend, your country did us all proud!
Oh, blush, guess who missed that! Well, that's what I thought, a Muslim man of Asian descent. And many of us here in the States know that Asia includes India, Pakistan, etc., but you would be surprised by the number of people I myself have had to remind of that fact! (Kind of like when a college student I know wondered who Fidel Castro is...)
I'm delighted by this.
Make no mistake, the security forces do know who the bastards are - it's only been recently that the cuffs are off.
Regards, Ivan

Thanks for the terminology update, one of the great things about FR is everyone keeps us all current.
We never got any grief from any Scots while in the highlands.
The western isles and Mull of Kintyre are beautiful.
The only grief we got was from some Marxist from the peoples
republic of Kanuckistan while staying at a youth hostel called
Carbisdale Castle.
We later saw Che Jr. through the window at a youth hostel in Aberdeen. Witnesses reported that he ran off in terror. Our previous defense of the 2nd Amendment apparently scared the lad.
The Scottish tourist board is a great source for info about Scotland.
FYI, sobering news on the continuing jihad in EUrope, in case you missed it...
At the time of the shooting a lot of people were saying this, but I find this argument strange considering that Jean Charles de Menezes looked very different to Hussain Osman, (the man the Police thought he was, even when they were just a few feet away from him, shooting him).
Jean Charles de Menezes
Hussain Osman
1. Wear heavy and bulky overcoats on a warm day with wires hanging out of the pockets.
2. Fail to stop when law enforcement officers order you to.
3. Run into a popular terror target when you've been ordered to stop.
None of this is actually true.
The undercover soldier who made the initial putative ID of Jean Charles as Hussain Osman was actually taking a piss in the park when he should have been watching the entrance to the flat which Jean Charles came out of and he only saw the back of him as he was leaving. He then radioed the HQ and said that the man who just left needs checking out, or words to that effect. But the senior police officer then radioed the heavy squad and told them: "whatever you do, don't let him get on a train."
The initial reports that said the things you mention were from information given by civilians who actually saw the undercover police team running after Jean Charles as he went to his train after nonchalantly getting a newspaper in the Station foyer and using his swipe card to go through the turnstile. The police did not shout to him to halt, they kept their presence secret until they eliminated him.
The first Jean Charles new about being followed by the police is when an undercover officer grabbed him and forced him to the floor of his train and he was shot at 11 times and hit 8 times in the head and shoulders by three other undercover officers.
Heh-heh!
Thanks for the Ping - a worthy article that serves as a good reminder.
After more than a month spent in EUrabia, I have developed some good sources in BeNeLux and Germany, and I am working on furthering some other contacts that I hope will be productive...
The more we all engage in actively seeking in-country/on-the-scene folks {everyday folks just like ourselves, who} live and work and play amongst the fields which could be on fire, the more we will have timely, reliable information with which to arm ourselves - AND thereby, much the less we will depend upon the worldwide SlimeStream Media for anything other than amusement.
Kind of like a worn-out carnival ride that only functions nominally.

Thanks for posting this.

Yep, the British aren't squeamish about extracting information from terrorists. Just over a couple hundred years ago the public display of a convicted traitor having his neck wrung before getting his guts ripped out and being torn to pieces by four draft horses was considered holiday Friday (Hanging Day) entertainment in London.
You're quite welcome! I'm glad that you liked it.
All too often, 'close saves' like this excellent police action go unreported or only minimally reported "because no one died" and so we are oftentimes left with an incomplete picture of the extent of this war that the jihadist nutjobs are waging against the sane peoples of the world.
Also, the American press does an absolutely terrible job of reporting on foreign events (particularly when they can't spin it into an anti-Bush story) and so this can leave many Americans who don't make a special effort to follow overseas news with a rather lonely feeling sometimes. In addition to serving as a pat on the back for a great job by Great Britain's police services, my hope is that this article may provide some needed reassurance for Americans, reminding them that our dear British Friends are working tirelessly toward the same goals as we are in this war.
I know that in this last respect it doesn't really apply so much to FReepers as they are among the most astute, well-read and up-to-date folks around and so they are usually quite well aware of the essential and heroic contributions from all of our Coalition partners, but I posted this here anyway in the hopes that they might in turn want to forward the article to their friends....it's short and sweet and easy to quickly digest by busy people and so is an excellent 'pass-around' item for emails.
Thanks again for your kind words and for pinging your friends :-)
