NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The critical November sweeps period for television networks is drawing to a close. But so far, there haven't been too many surprising plot twists.
CBS and ABC have built on last year's success. According to data from ratings tracker Nielsen Media Research, CBS and ABC each have five of the top 10 most-watched TV shows through mid-November.
CBS was the most watched network, according to Nielsen, but ABC was a strong No. 2, with a 6 percent increase in prime-time viewers. Ratings at Fox were a bit better than expected thanks to two new hits.
And finally, the woes for the once-mighty NBC continue. Through mid-November, average viewers at NBC were down nearly 12 percent from last year. What's more, NBC saw about a 19 percent decline in viewers between the ages of 18 to 49, a key demographic that advertisers covet.

What isn't noted in the article is the cumulative DECREASE in total viewers year on year.
The decrease was about .6 million viewers total.
The only show I watched during sweeps was Rome and that's gone for now.
I watch a total of '0' shows on network TV.
You mean there are other shows besides Monday Night Football? Who'd-a thunk it?
The only show I watch is PTI.
If MST3K were still on the air, I would watch it, too.
Congrats to CBS, the all-autopsy, all-serial killer, all-maggots-and-gore channel! A fine cultural beacon they are. Hope they're proud!
All I can say is, I am hooked on L O S T

I used to like the Apprentice. Like you posted, it was a show that required contestants to use their skill and business know how. Now it is a big commercial for whatever product being hawked that week.
I stopped watching it last season but I hear that it has gotten even worse with weekly tasks coincidentally being centered around a specific sponsor. No thanks.
On a good note, I see NBC is way off in ratings. I used to be a loyal watcher of ER and Law & Order. They have gone so political and so liberally offensive that I stopped watching them long ago.
"My Name is Earl" and "The Office", back to back, is THE ONLY bright spot in NBC's lineup.
"Law and Order"s have turned into total GOP bashing, so I don't watch them anymore. And it appears like I am not alone.
i watched a few episodes of rome and then realized it was just Porn. Well filmed and branded porn, but porn none the less. I deleted the rest of the episodes from my DVR after that.
I am sure they could have told the same stories without the continious frontal nutidy and graphic scenes.
I watch "0" TV now - it's great! I wish I had all the time back I wasted in front of the boob-tube...
You mean you didn't like Marcus? I mean, like, you just, he was so, nobody really understood, they were afraid, let me just say, if you really mean that, I'm getting to the point...

I watched an episode of NBC's Medium in early November where they went to a movie and met the husband's former lover. They made a big deal of going to see the "new movie" The Geisha. Lo and behold, a few minutes later there was a commercial for the new movie The Geisha.

Now, I waste all my time on FR . . .
CNN either missed or (I Suspect) completely ignored the real story here.
The decline in total viewership compared to last year...
What happened to Scrubs?
Ah, I deeply miss that show. I managed to get some forty-odd recorded on videotape. Rhino is putting out the old episodes on DVD, but these are unfortunately from the Sci-Fi Channel period.
And that Mexican Santa Claus movie from which you take your tagline is a holiday favorite.
It's on for a week or two every couple of months. Amazing stupid thing to do, but we ARE talking about NBC afterall.
