People do eat bear meat. Also, the increasing population of bears puts human children at risk as the excess bear population gets pushed into suburban areas

When the Dakota people lived in the Minnesota woods bear was their favorite meat because it contained the most fat. Calories were important to subsitence hunters.

Bear meat is good eating. I still have a few steaks in my freezer left from a hunt a couple years ago. It is similar to pork, and has to be prepared similarly, as it is subject to the same diseases and microorganisms as pork.
