Joe Lieberman's article in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal comes as a happy surprise. Looks like he's the new Democratic Zell Miller. I haven't agreed with him on much in the past but he my full respect. Thanks for backing the War, the Iraqi people and our troops, Senator.

The man has principles, something that will ostracize him from his party should he continue to exhibit them.

Don't delude yourself about Lieberman.

This guy has stabbed the President in the back on previous instances -- and I see no reason to trust him here.

When the going gets really rough, IMO, Lieberman will cut and run -- just like the rest of the liberal gaggle.

Joe Lieberman has all the qualities that the rest of the Democrat Party shed at the George Soros money trough

I've always considered him to be a reasonable and thoughtful opponent. His reaction to Cheney's zinger in the 200 VP Debate (help him get a Private Sector job) was indicative of one who does not take himself too seriously, unlike most Lib Pols.

Anybody who believes that Israel has a right to exist no longer feels welcome in the Democratic party.

Mr. Lieberman is a Democratic senator from Connecticut.

And, apparently, the only one with a sense of honor.

Joe Lieberman, ring planted firmly in nose, is not even CLOSE to being Zell Miller. Yes, he's talked a consistently good game on the war, but he is not to be trusted. As someone else observed, he WILL stab Bush in the back when party pressure demands it. Lieberman is not a fire-breathing conservative Democrat who will challenge his opponents to a duel; he's more like the Paul Shanklin caricature who needs Al Sharpton's megaphone to have his halting, whiny voice heard at all.

And I, personally, could NEVER trust this man after the part he played in attempting to steal the 2000 presidential election.

C'mon over to our side, Joe. What are you doing over there with the Dems? Those guys aren't your kind of people anymore. You didn't change, they did.

Lieberman's article is even more effective BECAUSE he is a Democrat. I hate to say it, but at this point he is doing more good for the US than any Republican Senator would because he is fighting publicly to prevent his party from totally becoming the anti-war party. If that happens, as slowly it's happening, this would not be good for the country.

There's always been something I liked about Joe Lieberman - been a couple things I didn't. For a politician he seems to be earnest and fairly honorable in his dealings. He and Gore would have never gotten along the way our Pres and VP do.

Joe Lieberman never has been, nor ever will be compared to the likes of Zell Miller.

I'll never forget for as long as I live, the day he aligned himself with the likes of that screeching moonbat Al Gore to be VP in 2000. He could have turned down the offer, but he refused to do so. To this day, he refused to acknowledge his party has been hijacked by the far left, something Zell Miller has made quite clear on numerous occasions both on the floor of the Senate, at the 2004 RNC convention, and in his book.

I wonder if Lieberman is going to retire, or will he run as an independent?

Liberman's just positioning himself for the next campaign. He's counting on the democrats openly anti-war efforts to backfire on them making him the most viable candidate to the public...a hawkish liberal.

Lieberman is the Democrat that I dislike the least.

Except for Zell, of course, but I like Zell, so I guess he doesn't count.

Oh, and Scoop Jackson...but he's dead...

The press has marginalized the Democrats by not resorting to their more thoughtful and cooler heads but incites the most inflammatory and defamatory statements by the most disreputable types -- including celebrities looking for some cheap publicity. In that way, they've gutted the true leadership of the Democrats and replaced them with themselves as chief spokespersons.

So they use people like Cindy Sheehan, and once they are of no use to them -- they abandon them with their delusions of grandeur to walk the streets alone. There's always the next sucker looking for a free pass to say what the press wants them to say.

It's too bad Lieberman and Miller can't take back their party from the media they've grown too dependent on to do their hard but necessary work for them. They're all but incapable of articulating any coherence anymore -- and if they do, the press won't quote them.
